Hello. I am looking for upgrading my phone and in the same process give my “old” (iPhone 12 Pro) to my mom who uses an iPhone 7 at the moment.
However, she mainly uses her phone for driving for Uber. Right now she charges her phone with a cable connected to her car and keeps the phone on a magnetic thing stuck to her windshield. The problem is that my current phones socket for the cable is somewhat broken. It is difficult to get it to charge with a cable and moving the cable can make it lose electric connection. I use a wireless charger
Now I am wondering if it’s more viable to try and send this in for repair, or if there exist a relatively small MagSafe charger with a good magnet and USB-A she can attach to her car? Or USB-C would work as well as there are adapters and it’s only power that is important.
The MagSafe charger does not have to have any fast charging. It just needs to be able to maintain battery while the phone is using GPS and some apps.
Also one more question:
I did charge my phone wirelessly in my brothers car that had a built in wireless charger and it got super hot. Like turned off due to being overheated hot. This when being connected to his car via CarPlay and using gps while charging. Is this common when using a phone that is charging wirelessly, I.e. better to just repair the connector on my phone, or was this something with a bad designed wireless charger in my bothers car?
Thank you in advance
