Refreshing the window kept me in a logged-out session. What ended up fixing it was clearing the cookies and site data for lemmy.ca. After logging in again, the threadiverse.link redirect keeps me logged in. Thanks.

No, there's no www in my URL. Are you not experiencing the same problem? I'm using Firefox 138. For testing purposes, I disabled all my browser extensions and disabled enhanced tracking protection for lemmy.ca and threadiverse.link.

Off topic, but threadiverse.link is a pretty neat service. I didn't know such a thing existed. Unfortunately, clicking the link from my lemmy.ca account takes me to a logged-out session. Is this a known issue?

Yes. After his humiliating defeat, I'm guessing he'll play it safe and pick a riding in Alberta which is also where he was born.

I would love to listen to the desperate phone calls Poilievre's team is making to newly-elected Conservative MPs asking them to resign so that he can take their seat.

I found a comment from dansup in issue 5885 on the Pixelfed GitHub. The inability to tag users on other instances is by design.

I edited my post to include this info.

So many anti-Conservative voters have the misconception that strategic voting means always supporting the Liberal candidate. In some ridings, it's the NDP or Green candidate who has the best shot.

Nope, it doesn't work. I can manually type your username into the search box, but nothing appears. To be clear, I'm talking about tagging someone in a picture, not a comment. If it makes a difference, I'm using the Pixelfed website, not an app.

When creating a post, how do you tag users who are on different instances? For example, I'm creating a post on pixelfed.ca and I want to tag someone on pxlfd.ca. The tagging menu seems to only show users in the local instance. In the comments section, I have no problems mentioning users in other instances.

That's an interesting idea. I wonder if Pixelfed (the software) has support for that.

Off topic, but the Pixelfed link in your Lemmy profile doesn't work. It should be https://pixelfed.ca/sunshine.

I guess this is more of a general Pixelfed question, but what happens when a user hits their storage limit? Pixelfed.ca has a 1 GB per user limit. Will the user be unable to upload new content or will content be automatically deleted?

I'm trying to view a post from a user on another instance and it shows "no preview available." I pasted the following URL into the search box on Pixelfed.ca.

I think the announcement post should have stayed pinned longer. I waited a long time for your Pixelfed instance. One evening, I did a random Lemmy check and saw the announcement post pinned at the top of my feed. The next day, it was gone. I'm sure there are some people who are interested in a Pixelfed instance run by the Lemmy.ca team and may not even realize it's already live.

I've been alternating between the mobile website and the official Android app since the launch of Pixelfed.ca. I'm leaning towards the website due to some deficiencies in the official app:

  • Lots of random crashes. I can't reliably replicate this, so I can't say for sure what causes it. I'm using a Google Pixel 9 Pro on Android 15.
  • There might be some user error here, but I can't get the media editor to work when creating posts. On the New Post screen, I enabled the media editor in the settings menu. I am not given any kind of editing options after selecting an image to upload.
  • No suggestions when typing hashtags.
  • No global feed.

Overall, I'm really enjoying my Pixelfed experience despite the growing pains associated with using a new instance.
