If anything I think paying close attention to a lawn is classic heterosexual male behaviour

Anything I've bought at a sports stadium. The FootyScran twitter account catalogues some similar examples -

Most definitely a budget title in terms of scope and production values but he's priced it at around that level too. Being honest, I'm not going to get more than 20-30 puzzles into it but that's still a good value proposition.

I think his video on the original DMC is also worth a watch if anyone is looking for some (very) longform content.

I've enjoyed Matthewmatosis on youtube for years and was a little bit skeptical when he announced he was going into gamedev a few years ago. Nevertheless this first game is reasonably priced and I've enjoyed the first 7 or 8 puzzles - they've taken me a couple hours.

Most interesting thing imo is seeing a critic put something of their own out for criticisms. Have noted a few junior matthewmatosis's in the making in the steam reviews lol.

Not too interested until I can sit down in my house and sink 100 hours into it uninterrupted. Happy for the devs to take their time.

Never had them wheel in a whiteboard but I did have an interview right after graduating where the recruiter lied about my experience level. The conversation part had been painful, with the interviewers quickly realising I was not right for the role. For some reason I was wearing a full suit because I thought you were supposed to for interviews (typically you do not do this in dev/IT lol).

Just when I thought they were going to let me go someone brought in a laptop and connected it to an overhead projector. Then asked me to refactor and fix bugs in some sample C# code; I only knew Java. It was excruciating and I'll never use a recruiter again. Approaching 8 years in the industry working at 3 different companies and never needed a recruiter for any of those roles.

Are you sure this person is who they say they are?

I remember back when reddit was edgier there was an /r/opiates sub where users would share cheery thoughts like, "I'm sure we all have a part of us fantasising about dying when we hit the plunger on the syringe."

It was so bleak that it stuck with me.

I also say in the next sentence I only made it 50 pages in. Not really a fanfic person so hard to judge the quality of it (my prejudice would be that most of it is shite).

Phew thought we'd have to settle our dispute by vogue-ing!

I'm sure the other episodes have been good but I had to share this one because it has SCHOOE writing and reading out some of his poetry at 13 mins.

It's not half bad like. Obviously been practicing at Burns Night over the years.

I love the idea of there being some student union poetry meetup where Pierre finishes his spiel and the crowd respond, SCHOE!

Score29-26 to Scotland

Woke up at 5:30AM to catch all of the 2nd half. Both teams obviously missing a lot of stars

Maybe put spoilers around score discussion because many fellow Scots will be watching catch-up this morning.

Capcom's flagship fighter is one of the very best games you can get for Switch 2 at its launch, helped along by a faithful 60fps rendition of the game that includes online cross-play with all other formats. There are tweaks and cutbacks of course next to Series S and PS5, and further optimisations for its portable play - but on balance it's a success in holding a stable frame-rate in its 1v1 fighting - as Tom covers in this full tech review.

Been thinking about this today. People already pay CGT on 2nd homes but given that housing is being used as an investment vehicle by virtually everyone in the UK, does it make sense to apply it to single homeowners too?

Would have to ignore the current govt's pledge to not raise taxes but with national debt at over 100% of GDP and us spending over 100 billion pounds a year in interest alone... not sure that is sustainable.

Thinking it through, house prices would fall since they would immediately be a less desirable commodity. Although they wouldn't plummet because houses still have intrinsic value and the supply of houses being sold would begin to dry up as people are dissuaded from selling.

The rental housing supply would increase in terms of properties since it would be more profitable to let them out than sell them. An increase in supply would reduce the cost of rent. It would need to come in with an increase in renter protection laws. Focusing on long term rented properties as family homes works well for other countries like Germany.

At the moment we've got a situation where people buy the most expensive house they can possibly afford because it has the best return of any investment by being exempt from CTG. In theory, people might buy more modest homes if they are buying and potentially could put more money into stocks/indexes which would stimulate the wider economy.

Anyway, this was more of a showerthought than anything else. What do you think?

Song has also aged badly but I wouldn't say it was ever good

Got rused by a Gerard Butler Butler-ganger at the weekend. Some pished dude who looked exactly like him came over and introduced himself as Gerard when I was having a fag at halftime at the rugby. Apparently I wasn't the only person who got rused...

He'll Milly Rock on ANY block. In fact he's been Milly Rocking for 4 (four!) days - somebody stop him!

I've been playing through Avowed since it came out and loving it. Although admittedly I was already a big Pillars of Eternity fan.

Then South of Midnight has come out recently and blown me away. I had low expectations but it is pretty much a new Psychonauts game.

The puzzler Chants of Senaar has been very fun so far with a unique take on the puzzle genre in terms of learning a new symbol based language.

Finally Blue Prince comes out today and it's got 10/10 review across the board. I feel like I am getting good value from my sub at the moment.
