lol it's reddit 2.0 over there (reddit: fediverse version)

a guide post on c/nostrblog might be good

avocado is a fruit and has fat I think, and seeds in things like papaya have protein, which is why there are fruitarians that last a while I think anyway

debunked copypasta

got a link to the alleged debunking?

fortified foods

not really natural (so not good in a survival setting?)

in fairness I think the way they are able to sustain this "fruitarianism" is from protein in things like papaya seeds; some people like the OP girl sustain it a while but I haven't found it to work for any longer period of time for myself

not simply vegan but fruitarian, that's sad

I've looked in to fruitarian a bit and it sounds interesting, I haven't found meatlessness to work well for myself for any extended period of time

here's another lefty kind of, I like some of "xir" stuff, but they tried going vegan and didn't feel well and went back to eating meat and I feel like we need more good stories of ex-vegan leftists to possibly dissuade them from being vegan: https://www.robingreenfield.org/veganism/

hilariously racist but thinking herself to be anti-racist

how did you get started?

maybe we could learn together

continue the experiment longer...

man dodged a bullet

I'm more interested in reducing the amount of "piggies" by getting them to lose the weight but I think wolfballs had an antifat community if one is to be made here

Well I think MOB who responded to you started to get at the point, but there's definitely a history of Christian artistry... I would bring up Salvador Dali as a modern example who comes to mind (he converted to Catholicism)

The only limit on "free" expression was Christians ought not sin in creating art

I do think you have a point to make, that sometimes conservatism and art haven't mixed, but this is probably more of specific kinds of "conservatives" (who are often supportive at least of religious artwork oftentimes).

Regarding "modern conservative Christian" culture, it really has attracted a lot of the (classical) liberals today so there is a lot of a culture of freedom with artists, perhaps more so than with the political left. I mean for example on the fediverse here, it was other instances defederating with our instance here to prevent "free expression", not the other way around.

If not should one(s) be made?

Kbin / Nostr general discussion?

Hello friends, I have been thinking about the defederation issue

I have a satirical post in mind for the subject but a different topic came to mind

what if instead of defederating, a "soft" defederation could be activated, where content basically is not served to users unless they opt in to it

So like say "shhhhhhitjust.works" instance activates "opt in soft defederation". Exploding Heads posts stops showing up on the instance, but users could still navigate to shhhhhhitjust.works/c/freeforum@exploding-heads.com and choose to subscribe and then stuff would show up

This would allow admins to be able to not promote content they agree with, while allowing users the ability to still interact with content they might approve of agreeing with

thoughts or has someone proposed this already?

we could also call for a new round of soft refederation if this idea is of use to anyone

edit: I suppose I should add I'm not really advocating for soft defederations at all so much as for them over "hard" or "full" defederations as have gone on as they drastically cut off all communication

Anyone know of any remedies for people to clear our their lungs, who have been exposed to harmful air pollutants?

I have in mind the wildfires going on, but also pollution in some major cities, or for ex-smokers

I'd guess drinking water and cardio in clean air are probably good

Here's one link list suggested of foods: https://www.cleaneatingmag.com/clean-diet/7-natural-sources-for-stronger-healthier-lungs/

more ideas: https://hhma.org/how-can-i-clean-my-lungs/

Any other ideas?

Gov site: https://www.airnow.gov/

a few different numbers were reported on different sites so I wasn't sure which might be best to check

N95s good enough? how long can u be out? how long do they last? anyone use a respirator?

anyone have guides on masking if our air quality declines?

I was unironically interested in this before muh covid because of exercising near factories where we could smell burning but I just stopped going that route

Also feel free to discuss general math topics in this post

Saw some concern raised on lemmy.ml that EH content was still federating with people or something: https://slrpnk.net/post/554148

It's sad because that instance is apparently about:

ecological friendliness, sustainability, and making the physical world a more survivable space

which I'm in to, anyway, and I imagine a bunch here are (including admin?)

So I was outside and it was kind of quiet and suddenly an air conditioner machine turned on and it wasn't a big deal but I became aware of the issue of noise pollution

I was curious what people think about this issue and about what ideas you might have to improve the noise situation and to manage noise pollution in society

Like in the example of the air conditioner, are there mods that could be made to retrofit old machines to make them quieter? Or are there new quieter designs?

One thing I've thought of is to encourage people to voluntarily use loud machines on certain days of the week if possible, rather than at random times every day (for example, mowing the lawn with loud gas mowers). This may not be realistic though as some people's schedules push them to use loud machinery whenever they simply have a moment.

Any thoughts on how to improve the issue of noise pollution and about the topic of noise management?
