Defence Industry Minister Pat Conroy told parliament: “Hanwha Defence Australia has contracted to Elbit to build the turrets of those vehicles in Australia without the Commonwealth being a party to that contract.”

Isn't lying to parliament grounds for being removed from your role at a minimum?

Tbh it feels to me like there's not much reason to go much further across the river, it's mostly urban sprawl anyway isn't it?

Edit: to be clear I mean urban sprawl in both directions

Loved revelation space, but yeah long read.

Arthur C Clarke and Asimov both wrote loads of good novel length SciFi so I'd start there if you haven't gotten into them.

If you're into sci-fi, how much have you gone through the classics? Most are novel length so don't require a huge commitment (I too struggle with long books).

This seems pretty disqualifying imo. "Ah I don't control what my husband does," yeah sure, but I imagine his politics and yours aren't far from each other.

I'm not convinced that increasing dingo numbers wouldn't at least help control the population. Basically all predator-prey systems go though cycles afaik (we teach this model to first year maths students). Obviously I'd have to read more to form a stronger opinion though.

In fact, for those of us who eat meat, we should avoid beef, lamb, and pork. Kangaroo is FAR more sustainable from an environmental perspective...
... even if Skippy is on our National Coat of Arms.

This I agree with, I live overseas now and I miss a good roo-steak.

Governments have backed controls and culls of the kangaroo’s natural predator – the dingo

“The natural alternatives are being killed by a dingo or dying by starvation,” he says.

Farmers livestock might be at risk but can we not reintroduce more dingos to manage the population?

Why aren't you just sending people a doi or a hyperlink if they want a paper? And if they have asked for a specific paper surely they can do the renaming?

Advance Generations, to allow “generous donors and supporters the chance to leave a gift to Advance in their will”. ... Abbott, a longtime supporter and board member for Advance, also offered his own testimonial in the report: “Supporting Advance Generations is a very good way to protect the values and country that we cherish for the next generation

Yeah? Let's see your will then Tones, I bet you'll be leaving heaps ay.

Since 3 May, Advance’s primary campaigns have centred around stopping immigration and ending welcome to country ceremonies.

In an email to supporters on Wednesday, the rightwing group encouraged followers to “speak up and take on” the ceremonies, criticising them as a “tool to indoctrinate” children.

JFC they're still going on about this. Surely if they don't find new keys to dangle in front of their supporters soon they're going to fall off.

Wow what a shock. Guess running a uni like a for profit business works like shit. Maybe the real problem not cited in this article is that the upper management are all worthless.

Good thing Labor used the loss of the referendum to do sweet FA about indigenous issues.

I think the perception that the greens are arrogant is mostly a media thing to be honest, and I'm not sure how much they can do to fight that. Imo there is a general perception of any activist or left wing group that they're all arrogant/holier than thou types.

They ended up backing Labor's housing policies despite the analysis from think tanks like the Australia Institute saying they would do nothing. This all seems like a double standard anyway to me, did Labor change any policy on housing? It took months to extract some direct cash on top of the HAFF then they refused to negotiate, the greens at least tried to, yet the greens are arrogant.

Mining magnate Gina Rinehart is urging politicians to shift further to the right and adopt US President Donald Trump’s polices as she blames voters and the “left media” for the Coalition’s disastrous election result.

I honestly wonder if she just wants to ruin everything for her own benefit, or she is actually lost in the sauce.
