Well, our deputy PM has stubbornly resisted denouncing her nazi grandfather, so what can we expect from our political leadership?

Everyone involved in designing, testing, and installing those flaps ought to be incredibly proud of themselves. The single camera view we had was of that flap literally breaking apart during re-entry due to the punishing conditions, and the flap still worked the whole time. We didn't have camera views of the other three flaps but it's safe to assume they were undergoing the same brutal conditions. And the ship still managed a controlled vertical water landing despite all that. And this was with an already-obsolete prototype design that's been replaced in the testing queue with a newer prototype design.

The booster also seemed to perform up to par. Until more details are released then we won't know for sure but first impressions are that it accomplished all its testing goals. Even the engine-out might not be a major issue, if the flight computers were just being overly cautious with a sensor reading.

All in all this test was an incredible success. It really validated the basic concept of a large two-stage stainless-steel all-liquid-engine rocket. And this is just orbital test #4. Every new test has been a major improvement on the prior one. And my god, that video of the plasma sheath building up around the re-entering Starship is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen in a live stream.

I really wish tiktok people would tag their political-content videos better. I truly do not give a shit about American presidential politics so I've got a long list of blocklist keywords to try to filter it out, but untagged videos slip through from time to time.

This is true. But there are permanently-shadowed craters at the poles. They're among the coldest places in the entire solar system. They haven't seen sunlight for billions of years! There's design concepts for incredibly sensitive and high-resolution infrared telescopes in those craters that wouldn't need delicate sunshields like JWST relies on.

"Scivey" (pronounced "sky-vee") is a good east coast Canada insulting adjective. Untrustworthy, shifty, up to no good. "Scivey fucker wants to borrow cash but he already owes me fifty bucks from last month."

Another good one is "christer" (pronounced "Christ-er"). It has connotations of a bratty child, but a brat who enjoys being cruel. Often prefixed with "little" for a little added emphasis. "Little christer was kicking the neighbor's poor dog."

And that's not even getting into the sacrilegious glory of Quebecois insults.

Weird older co-worker is complaining about how cold the office is. It's 24 celsius and everyone else is roasting. He must have the worst circulation possible for someone who's still ambulatory.

I love that Tinder has a "Harry Potter" tag in the hobbies/interests section. Instant swipe left, time saved.

I am 100% certain that this is to save his own skin when Ukrainian fascists ramp up the "stabbed in the back by the Jews" bullshit. There's no way this is a principled stance against apartheid systems of government.

I'm more annoyed by ads telling me about desperate sluts in my area. I don't need to be constantly told that. I have a damn mirror.
