No, I don't think it's an intentional standard. I think it's just the way the current moved throughout the industry. I don't pretend to know how to explain why.

wtf is $330 millions for wrong crash accident anyway?

Maybe because someone died.

Look, we've only known the effects of radium and similar chemical structures for about a hundred years or so. Give corporations a chance to catch up. /s

I guess some of my friends are imaginary.

The plebs will dine on the happiness of the elite and have full bellies.

Fuck you, they were badass.

This hurts poor people. Why should he care?

So, advertising that you're a complete piece of shit and a sadist. Well, at least you own it.

A great man named Luigi had an idea. Perhaps his philosophy will catch on.

What a godly man. /s

Bart Ehrman. He's written about a truckload of books. He's very mainstream, in terms of historians. You can see some of his debates on YouTube before putting down money on any of his books.

Sumerians. Cuneiform. Suck it everyone who came after.

Homer? Try the Epic of Gilgamesh, you posers!

Allow me to once again recommend The Fall of Civilizations Podcast. It's excellent.

A representative for Tesla sent Ars the following statement: "Today's verdict is wrong and only works to set back automotive safety and jeopardize Tesla's and the entire industry's efforts to develop and implement life-saving technology. We plan to appeal given the substantial errors of law and irregularities at trial. Even though this jury found that the driver was overwhelmingly responsible for this tragic accident in 2019, the evidence has always shown that this driver was solely at fault because he was speeding, with his foot on the accelerator—which overrode Autopilot—as he rummaged for his dropped phone without his eyes on the road. To be clear, no car in 2019, and none today, would have prevented this crash. This was never about Autopilot; it was a fiction concocted by plaintiffs’ lawyers blaming the car when the driver—from day one—admitted and accepted responsibility."

So, you admit that the company’s marketing has continued to lie for the past six years?

The vast majority of voicemails that I get from unknown numbers are a prerecorded pitch about improving SCO. Too bad I registered some websites before there were privacy options to prevent personal info from appearing in a whois lookup.

Even better: let me set a list of keywords that flag or delete messages if they appear in the transcription. Sigh.

It’s interesting how almost every model released in 2025 has specifically targeting coding. That focus has clearly been paying off: these coding models are getting really good now.

I still contend that this sort of task is uniquely positioned to show off LLMs. The idea that they'll turn into agents that can do real-world tasks remains a fantasy. Despite how impressive this is, they're losing money and have no real path to profitability.

Look up Ed Zitron's newsletter and podcast for more info on why the industry is a bubble. I'm genuinely impressed with this specific example, but our economy is gonna suffer when the bubble bursts.

Neanderthals’ cultural practices, similar to those of Indigenous peoples, might be the answer to the mystery of their high δ¹⁵N values. Ancient hominins were butchering, storing, preserving, cooking, and cultivating a variety of items. All these practices enriched their paleo menu with foods in forms that nonhominin carnivores do not consume. Research shows that δ¹⁵N values are higher for cooked foods, putrid muscle tissue from terrestrial and aquatic species, and, with our study, for fly larvae feeding on decaying tissue.

I mean, this makes sense. Other primates eats grubs. But I would never have come up with this theory without someone else suggesting it first.

In May, a woman in Kansas sued Chaturbate, claiming that it was the site’s fault that her teenage son found her old laptop unlocked in a closet and used it to access porn without age verification in place.

Sounds like a parenting problem to me, but go ahead and blame porn. People like this should have to pay the legal fees of the defendants. Would anti-slapp (or whatever it’s called) apply here?

If I was cruising for dudes, I’d boycott. In fact, I believe the same conglomerate owns a bunch of other dating / hookup apps. We should boycott those as well.

According to the filing, Lipnik has been fired from Apple “for failing to follow Apple’s policies designed to protect its confidential information, including development devices and unreleased software and features.” The filing also accuses Lipnik of failing to report “multiple prior breaches” to Apple.

When you sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement), you’d best protect the secrets. Then again, the guy who left an iPhone 4 in a bar didn’t lose his job. Wonder what the differences are between them.

A big concern is that stablecoins will appear as safe investments, legitimized by the law, while supposedly private companies issuing stablecoins could peg their tokens to riskier assets that could tank reserves, cause bank runs, and potentially blindside and financially ruin Americans. Stablecoin scams could also target naïve stablecoin investors, luring them into making deposits that cannot be withdrawn.

About as on-brand as it could get for modern GOP.

A shitty admin works with a shitty propaganda machine to produce shitty bullshit.

George Washington would be super happy to see what we’ve become. Sorta like how Jesus would be stoked by the Prosperity Gospel.

(Jesus was not a historical figure. He was originally a figure in heaven. Now let me really blow your mind: Washington also wasn’t a historical figure. He was originally the devil in hell! I’m joking of course, shut up, I need gallows humor to not be depressed by this shit. The bit about Jesus was not a joke, however.)

USA! USA! USA!

They’re just straight up evil.

I mean, it's tabloid news, but it's still significant. The case was reportedly quite damning and ended up going nowhere.
