At this point, I think I'm going to send it to PSA for grading/authentication. Based on what I'm seeing they can go for $2k on up. For that amount of money, I want to make sure that it's authentic. And without an official certification, someone will want to use that to negotiate the price down.

Thanks for the interest. I can message you once I get it back.

I knew it was jest. I'm okay with that.

Figured I'd ask here. I have a Walter Payton helmet that I bought in the early 90's from one of the home shopping networks. I have a general certificate of authenticity, but it's not numbered or holographed. I have no doubt it's genuine as Walter was on the show signing a bunch of them when I bought it.

Should I send it in and have it authenticated by Becketts, PSA, or JSA? Is it worthless without? My other concern is that I don't want it to sell it to a resaler, I want it to go to a fan that will appreciate it. However, I don't live in Chicago (I'm in Omaha, NE) It's been in the curio cabinet in my man cave for 30 years. We are looking to downsize and I have to part with some of my collection.

Any suggestions appreciated (event the ones that suggest I wait until they have a winning season, lol)

- So you spend a 1st on a QB, who sits on your bench for at least a year.

- Then you trade that backup QB for a 1st round pick (because you're not getting multiple picks for a QB that couldn't beat out your present starting QB)

- Whereas, if you keep Fields and trade that 1st round pick you could get a 1st round pick this year, next year and additional picks.

Sorry, but I don't see a scenario where you have the upper hand after you use your 2024 1st round pick on a backup QB.

What are you hoping for? That Fields becomes your #1 and the guy you drafted becomes your #1 also? You would have to trade Fields in order to recoup your draft capital because the other QB hasn't proved that he can play in the NFL.

Who put the spell on the Bears? They did it to themselves when they let William Perry score a TD in the Super Bowl instead of Walter Payton. As long as Ditka is still alive the curse will remain.

I'm okay with it. As long as it's for a 4th round pick.
