We chat with friend of the show Michael Richardson—author of the new book Nonhuman Witnessing—about the ongoing, deepening relationships between Silicon Valley and the US military. We check up on new activities from old enemies—Y Combinator, Anduril, Palantir, among others—and get into the changing cultures on both sides as they converge around defense innovation as a solution for Silicon Valley’s problems of needing another endless pool of capital and the Pentagon’s problems of needing to maintain a dying empire and beat China in an arms race.

Also depressing to see the establishment third choice party almost completely absorb all third choice votes. The bright side of which I guess is that at least Reform didn't do that well, but they don't have to do anything for the establishment media to keep boosting their bullshit until the time is right™

I've formed the knowledge in the comment from spending too much time around tech nerds in the past, but I would love to see a comprehensive resource that lays it all out, especially from an anti-imperialist perspective – I'm sure there are lots of dots I'm still not connecting

Casual reminder that the internet was a DARPA of the US Department of Defence invention and that the US still controls vital parts of the internet infrastructure today

How has bandcamp been fairing since the latest buyout?

I've come across this musician owned alternative called Mirlo that sprung up recently as well, does anyone have any experience using it? (as a fan or artist, I'm interested either way)

Incredible track

the trans characters were definitely there for a joke by shrek 3, but in 2 it feels different because of the overarching queer themes of the plot. alternatively, my standards for queer representation are probably through the floor, because shrek 2 was one of the few times (maybe the first?) i had been exposed to the idea of trans people existing as a transfem child
