It's not tankie, it's logic. China doesn't want to rely on oil/OPEC, because they are Western aligned, and Russia is a clusterfuck rn. Becoming energy independent is literally the smartest choice, and their shift to renewables is actually the ONE thing the West should be emulating. It's time to stop relying on other political actors for our energy needs.

You're on the UK instance, you should fucking understand exactly why energy independence is needed after the energy pricing crisis you're dealing with.

You're right, it absolutely does sound like dril! I'd forgotten about that account since I left Twitter

Ok, the biggest thing that stuck out to me was

I've purchased a home several times in the last year in a high cost of loving northern VA

Why are you buying "a home" several times in a year?

Pretty sure Cleveland isn't the only place in Ohio, and also I don't think it's even the top 3 centres people want to live? I remember a thread on Reddit a long time ago that people would rather live in Cincinnati or Columbus.

Futhermore, unless you actually live or have local knowledge of the area, random zillow postings are useless without context of whether it's a "good" or "bad" part of town. I could post several "affordable" places in my city, but they're next to meth dens. The real estate listings make them sound REAL NICE, though.

if I could only stop clinging to "societal interactions and infrastructure" I could have a great homestead!

This is so true, and something that really gets ignored in the discussion. I don't WANT to move to bumbfuck nowhere where I have no roots, I want to stay and give back to the community that raised and nurtured me into the person I am today. Unfortunately I (and a lot of others) have been priced out by home speculators.

How is there a loneliness epidemic in all age groups of our society, and yet no one is asking if one of the factors might be people having to move for education and then work to chase affordability, while getting pushed further and further away from their social networks?

This might be not the right place to ask, but is there a theory or phenomenon that explains why so many people side with the perpetrators/people in power when abuses are being commented on?

Sympathizing with the clergyman in your example, or another pop culture example I've seen recently is defending private jet usage.

The easy answer is "brainworms", but there must be more to it than that, surely?

I'm sorry, idk why but this comment is so funny. Like I'm laughing irl but I can't explain to anyone why.

Man, I must have picked up BotW at the exact right time, because I started playing it when Covid lockdowns started and the whole "solo in the face of a world altering event" aspect really got to me.

I don't know if I would have enjoyed it before or after, even though I know many people did.

Twilight Princess slaps tho, and I'll fight anyone that disrespects it.

One of the few based things Sask has done. Add to the list: producing Diefenbaker, who appointed the first Indigenous Senator and gave all Indigenous people in Canada the right to vote, and Tommy Douglas, who instituted the first ever single payer universal healthcare program in ALL OF NORTH AMERICA in Sask. That then became the basis of the universal health care program we see in Canada today.

Too bad their current government is super regressive and like taking AmeriPol talking points instead of actual effective governance.
