Thanks for the recs! I've played Aeterna Noctis and enjoyed it a lot, I'll definitely check the other two out!

Yeah, it does, but what are you missing exactly? Can you not get to the final boss without the DLC? No, you can get to the boss no problem, and in fact going to DLC biomes sometimes means you can't get to the final biome/boss. Is your playtime reduced to less chambers/run? Nope, the number of chambers and biome-bosses remain the same. Is the gameplay altered? Nope, all runes and weapons that you need to finish the game is there in the base game and unlockable.

I know, because I played the base game only until the Dead Cells Castlevania PS5 collection came out.

You're being disingenuous in making it seem like they purposefully cut content and then added it back for $$$, when Evil Empire has been adding a lot of free updates to the base game since 2019.

YO GIRLS, FEMMES, AND THOSE TRYING TO AVOID TWINK DEATH, YOU READING THIS??

YOU DON'T NEED THAT EXPENSIVE HRT, YOU JUST NEED TO DRINK MORE COWS MILK!

BECAUSE THE INTERNET CLOWNS SAID SO. JUST LIKE HOW THEY FOUND THE BOSTON BOMBER!

I get what you mean, but Dead Cells was already a completed roguelike on launch. The DLC's add variety and additional story, but you can still get the full gameplay experience with just the base game.

It's like saying you won't support the Elden Ring because it has DLC.

Also, the Castlevania DLC is just fucking cool. The soundtrack for those levels alone are just -chef's kiss-, and probably the closest we'll get to a new 2D Castlevania 🥲

Honestly, there hasn't been that many new games that have interested me this year, so I've actually been making headway into my backlog. I've noticed quite a few of my gaming friends doing the same.

Come to the ARAM/TFT retirement home, it's where the chill people are.

Your comment just made me check their post history and yeah, that's a bit strange...

I could also see this aggressively leveraged by the JK Rowling types to harass queer people.

This is exactly what I was thinking, she and her ilk cry misogyny often while going after other women. Are they going to be held responsible under this policy? Or is this going to muddy the waters even more for "political points" while actually doing fuck all.

During undergrad I had to schedule my microbiology and pathology classes during lunch hour. Worst two semesters of my life.

I mean, it's South Korea, where 30% of their GDP is Samsung and Hyundai, and an additional 50% is other assorted chaebols. Corporate greed is assumed to be the ONLY interest.

I don't think people realize how huge it is that Lies of P, a single player soulslike with no microtranaactions, came from a Korean developer. The Korean gaming industry does not think games like this can actually succeed because of the gaming culture there. Round8 deserves a lot of praise for what a huge undertaking Lies of P probably was behind the scenes.

Ah, you're right in that co-op's are more direct contributions.

My equvilancy was coming from the fact that I was thinking of the taxpaying base as the "members" of the co-op, and the redistribution of profits of it's members as the social services. I mean you vote for the board of a co-op too so...technically...the co-op model could work here.
