Absolutely. Unlike liberals, who have no sense of direction or any clue how to move toward the future, communists actually engage in development, both self and collective. Thus, we have a future, whereas liberals stand still and let all of this just pass them by (like US infrastructure compared to China's).

Liberalism will always be doomed to fail, just as capitalism will always follow the trend toward common ruin. The pursuit of communism will always follow the trend of common prosperity and the revitalization of the people.

Leave these relics of failed states to toddle off the coil while we continue to build a better future.

This is hardly a surprise. When you adopt an anti-communist stance, you pave the way for unhealthy social trends to takeover, which increases the moderation workload considerably, and forces you into an unsustainable method of operating. Perhaps the decay has finally reached a stage advanced enough to send them back to the likes of Silicon Valley centralized models.

Hexbear has survived all this time because, like China, has been engaging in self-reform to address the problem of rise and fall. So long as Hexbear continues this path, it will continue to go the distance.

The other big instances that are here today may not be in a few months, or years. Fascinating to see from a dialectical perspective.

Seconded. I also discovered Halim before The Deprogram, so any time someone says "Hakim" I commonly trip over it and confuse the two in the first few seconds.

Literally all you are doing by getting into "the system" is switching classes. It's no big mystery why these so-called "progressives" that hold seats in the halls of bourgeois power become more revisionist and reactionary over time.

Good luck finding a politician that has resisted this trend. There aren't many, if any at all. I would love to retract this statement by being proven wrong, though.

The US is a failed state. These trends only continue to make land/agrarian reform sexier and sexier to the proletarianized masses.

Nobody wants to spend their youth kicking the can down the road for the next 5000 years. Eventually this will become an armed struggle, because we're tired of working to pay our landlords their kickbacks. Fuckin' move out of our parents house after putting up with their shit for nearly 20 years and then straight into another vertical hierarchy where we still aren't the masters of our own living spaces. Sometimes we can't even have that because it's too expensive to move out, or, like here, affordable apartments are just outright blocked in the interest of housing barons. We want to get on with our lives and can't do that when we have to answer to "daddy".

On a positive note, this buys China more and more time to show the housing situation that those in the US want to see. One look at Chinese infrastructure and the fact that the vast majority of the population owns homes, coupled with having been able to peacefully get on with their lives and enjoy positive social trends is enough to radicalize quite a lot of very hungry people. Even rent is far more reasonable in China.

Reforms can’t come fast enough. “Every time you think you scrape the bottom of the barrel, you get something like this,” William Sterling, one of the lawyers representing the developers in the builder’s remedy case, told me.

Reforms are meaningless under dictatorship of the capitalist class. The only way to secure them is to depose the ruling class and oppress their remnants.

If the state doesn’t take strong action soon, we may discover that the bottom is even deeper than we thought.

This is the US. Over a million people died of COVID because it was a big ass experiment and session of torture porn for the capitalists. The bottom is infinite.

Steady decolonization efforts in Mali.

Brief introduction:

In Fallout: New California (Prequel to Fallout: New Vegas) you play as the kid from Vault 18. Orphan. Loner. Mutant. On the last big night of the Vault Ball season in 2260, you make a fateful decision that will change the course of your life -- and eventually the future of the New California Republic.

Note: If you've completed this game, there is carryover into New Vegas after the fact. You will start a brand new New Vegas campaign with added lore and elements from New California. What carries over depends entirely on the path you've taken and decisions you've made (so be patient and thorough if you really care).

Personal feelings:

I got the privilege of playing Fallout: New California before ever picking up New Vegas, and I must say I am beyond grateful for that, having been able to go in blind for both games from start to finish without knowing the future events of the latter. The mod team behind this didn't have the resources to do everything they wanted with it, so some things were cut from release, but the project is open to contribution and in a state that is perfectly playable (and, in my experience, satisfying) with 13 endings.

The lore this game expands upon in the Fallout universe is honestly some of the most impressive I've ever experienced, and I cannot recommend this game highly enough. In my own personal experience, I find the characters to be very human, and relatable, so they really did well in terms of giving them depth and character development.

I've never had a place like Hexbear, and honestly I feel all of you are the best people I've ever interacted with. That being said, I wanna give back and contribute stuff I personally really enjoy, so here's one of my most cherished games you've probably never heard of. Maybe a lot of you will find the lore and themes in this game something you yourself can really relate to, like I have.

Additionally, I'm pretty interested in the conversation that could be had about this game, since I love reading all of your perspectives and interpretations about New Vegas.

Avoiding spoilers (for those that care about this):

  • Avoid wandering into the video comments, and the recommended videos on the sidebar (just to be sure)
  • Try not to read into the "Introduction" of the mod page any further than what has already been provided here. That includes watching the "Fallout New California Narrative Trailer" provided therein, as it does spoil some events.
  • Try not to read into the "Story" part of the mod page.
  • Skip straight to the "Installation" section of the mod page.
  • Those who have played, don't spoil anything, please!
  • Add spoiler tags to anything you feel would be relevant to this, if you wish to talk about it here.

Lore: In this timeline the US succeeded in provoking China into armed conflict over Taiwan, and subsequently used the opportunity to destroy Taiwan's semiconductor industry and ports, crippling maritime trade and technological development. The US trend of capitalism has stagnated and even undermined the quality of their military hardware and tactics, while China's trend of developing socialism with Chinese characteristics has brought their PLA's weaponry, defense and strike capabilities into the 21st century.
