Some of the most clueless people I have ever known. It's remarkable how disconnected they can be.

soviet-huff Can we get past the bullshit need to buy things from and sell shit to other people already? Make technology that actually fucking matters, that's actually interesting and assists in national development, and frees up the common person's schedule to engage in leisure, so we can all get the fuck on with our lives already?!

It's boring as hell and annoying as fuck how commerce continues to chase after people and becoming an increasingly obstructive, invasive phenomenon. People don't want their lives to be plagued with ads! Why do you think daytime television is on its deathbed (apart from being an endless sea of reality TV)? If we need something, we'll fucking go looking for it.

[–] sicklemode@hexbear.net 2 points 2 years ago

For sure. We need it now more than ever.

10000-com

They are the future of pretty much everything. Diplomatic relations, win-win cooperation, scientific advancement, medical advancement, technological advancement, global development. Even China's animation industry (donghua) is overtaking Japan's (anime).

It's mind blowing how China's high quality development is always on an upward trend, in contrast to the West. James Webb Telescope and the ISS dominated by the US are so inconsequential and uninteresting in regard to the trend of the times. The only real progress in the US that can be expected is in regards to copying and chasing after China to maintain legitimacy, which I highly doubt they'll be able to reliably pull off.

China is now, and the future.

These are stressful times indeed. I've been quite worried in particular about the cluster munitions and depleted uranium rounds handed over to Ukraine by the West, which will effectively result in a permanent danger long after the war has ended. Just look at Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam as examples of nations peppered with unexploded ordnance, to which the legacy is something the US is still very grateful for. It's a way to continue war without being visibly involved anymore, which is quite clever.

As far as RU/CN/DPRK action in response to the tightening military circles of the West's NATO/Quad, I'm hoping this never comes in the form of hot war. The empire is dying with the rejuvenation and liberation of the Global South, but it's a slow choke. Dragging this on as long as possible until that fucker (US empire) is choked out is the safest bet. In other words, endure while continuing to accelerate de-dollarization and the development of national sovereignty in a multi-polar world. We have to do this while at the same time minimizing the fallout from climate change, which is a monumental task.

We're stuck in a real shitty time, and it's especially awful if you're young.

Missile command was historically one of the games that showcased the terror of the first Cold War's threat of nuclear annihilation.

Now, we've got something like this: Simulation of US and Russia Nuclear War - Nuclear War simulation

It's so bone chilling because not only are tensions increasing, but the technology to carry warheads continues to cut ICBM travel times down, making decisions on whether or not to respond to potentially false alarms all the more perilous. We narrowly escaped nuclear annihilation thanks to a Soviet man that chose not to respond to what was detected as incoming nuclear warheads, but turned out to be sunshine coming up over a hill.

They'd do well to gracefully throw in the towel, but of course there's an irrational and compulsive need to maintain a policy of having no reverse gear.

Excited for the DPRK to add hypersonics to their arsenal, making it increasingly difficult for hostile nations to provoke them without greater risks.

Political will extends out of the barrel of a gun, after all. AES need the best technology possible to deter threats and maximize the cost to the West should the latter succeed in provoking a hot war.

Hate clicks and hate traffic have pretty much always been a thing. You can see it pretty much anywhere you go. Silicon Valley platforms deliberately exploited this through algorithms designed to maximize engagement through hate and other negative emotional turmoil. Like a never ending car crash you can't look away from, so people would always be trapped for extended periods of time looking at stuff that made them miserable.

Very profitable for those platforms.

Another thing is people like to vent and be upset about shit, given their unfulfilling lives. It's just in this case, that energy is being funneled into bad faith engagement and counterproductive practices (misinformation).

In 1957, the Soviet Union launched Sputnik 2. On board the spacecraft was a single dog, named Laika. When Laika returned to Earth, the Soviet scientists discovered something profound: dogs in space experience extreme cognitive enhancement. The following year the Soviet space program would be dedicated solely to studying the effects of space on canine intelligence...

The Communist Dogifesto is a science fiction first-person shooter set on a Soviet space station in Lunar orbit, which has been used as a platform for experimentation on the Russian space dogs. Unfortunately, dogs this deep in space have more tricks in their vac suit than the scientists accounted for. Now Laika has taken over and you are the only one left who can take back the station, or at least attempt to escape with your life!

In order to survive and defeat Laika and her robotic footsoldiers, you will have to gain new abilities with tech upgrades, recycle scrap materials you find lying around into usable items, read data logs written by the ousted humans to find keycodes and to explore new areas of the station, and do a lot of good old fashioned shooting!

Features a hand-designed space station to explore, eight unique tech upgrades to choose from, pages of in-universe data logs from the scientists and other staff which reveal the nature of the work done on the station as well as vital information to access new areas and items, and several different endings based on in-game actions.

After purchasing (it's free, download provided) you will gain access to binaries for both Windows and Linux, as well as the full source code of the game.

I encourage everyone to take the time to listen carefully and review this material, and apply the rhetoric and ideas relevant to our social and national conditions as the opportunity arises. Discourse can be improved by refining how we express both internal (self) and external (collective/national/geopolitical) phenomenon, as well as their respective solutions.

The less frustrated we are in seeking the words for what we know, the better equipped and more level-headed we will be to handle disputes as they arise.

Description: Someone who has succumbed to the cradle-to-grave disinformation campaign driven by the US and its vast media empire to believe the exact opposite of objective reality in the outside world and of world history itself. These people commonly believe the US and its vassal states (the Western world) to be the world or the international community. These people very often also believe in US exceptionalism and the idea that no matter how bad their country is, some socialist AES country, or peer-level rival (like Russia) is always arbitrarily worse. Thus, they live in a snowglobe and believe themselves a bigger deal than they actually are.

I wasn't able to find any instances of this being coined, so maybe I'm the first? Regardless, here's a new tool for everyone to use in the field of discourse.

Description: Refers to a space dominated or soon to be dominated by fascists that will or has already ended up isolated in the Fediverse. This isolation is known as a cauldron, where the worst elements remain contained and the heat is turned up from increasing concentration of hate and intensifying contradictions, leading to rapid decay in quality of discourse and eventually the inevitable death of the instance in the wider Fediverse.
