That’s what they’re doing right now. What is your point?

I personally have had premium for ~3 years and I’ve never seen an ad. Sounds like FUD to me. I can’t believe I’m defending Google of all companies, I no longer use any of their products including Gmail, Search & Maps.

But nothing comes close to YouTube, it’s just them and a bunch of also-rans, and it’s literally the only streaming service I pay for because it simply cannot be replicated in any other way.

Nebula is paid, you can also pay YouTube and remove ads.

Nebula is cheaper but it also has a very small fraction of the content that YouTube has. So I really don’t see why moving to another paid service with less content is a solution for anyone.

That oughta hold those S.O.Bs.

If you wore a shirt that says “there is no god” you would likely be sent home. It’s antagonistic, regardless of how you feel on the issue.

I know if I was a 7th grader and this stupid little shit and his dickhead friends wore this into class, I would feel it was equally antagonistic, except far worse because it seeks to upset a minority that is already going through the wringer.

It runs contrary to the purpose of a school, which is to educate. Your other examples are more of a case-by-case thing, but if a Christian student said they were offended by that shirt, then the student might be asked to not wear it in the future.

Unfortunately not in the dev beta, presumably it will require a carrier settings update for most users.

It’s working for me, I hadn’t seen that reported on iOSBeta sub too so it might be isolated.

Nothing in release notes either.

Spotlight is working for me, do you have the release notes link?

EDIT - Nvm, found it and posted it: https://lemmy.ca/post/22980921

EDIT 2 - Nothing in release notes about Spotlight.

Would love to chat about it, I hate going back to Reddit but I do with Sink It! for the small communities, just like iOSBeta.

Learned a ton of QoL stuff there in this release that wasn’t covered in the Keynote and isn’t on the preview page:

  • Recents in Phone now have a call button instead of tap to call, which prevents accidental calls.
  • T9 dialing has been added, just enter the first few letters of a contact’s name via the dialer and their contact appears.
  • Apple TV controls on Lock Screen tuck away into a dropdown, preventing accidental scrubbing.
  • Long-press the Flashlight button in control centre, and on Dynamic Island models you can set beam width by dragging right or left, and intensity by dragging up and down.
  • Calculator has full history, editing of already entered numbers, multi line.
  • Reminders show in calendar now and can be tapped to complete them.
  • Calendar UI has been totally reworked, multi-day view is awesome.

The more notable stuff is also on https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-18-preview/ which I encourage everyone to read. It started being less comprehensive in the iOS 17 cycle which is disappointing, but it still covers lots that wasn’t talked about in the keynote.

EDIT - I posted the preview page and release notes, trying to help stir up some discussion.

While this is a good thing, there are two things to point out:

  1. It was released in 2015 but it was SOLD until Oct 2022. So… yeah. Some people owned it for 9 years but others bought it brand new from an Apple Store at full price less than 2 years ago. So this is about the least they could do in that regard.

  2. The ATV HD is powered by the A8 chip, which also powers the original HomePod. The HomePods run audioOS, which is built on tvOS. That was sold from 2018 to 2021. So maintaining A8 support in tvOS actually covers two devices that were sold until fairly recently, and the HomePod was quite expensive and also would be quite expensive to replace.

So yeah, while I do appreciate Apple’s long support period for devices, when it exceeds 5-6 years there is usually an underlying reason like this.

Roblox has completed its long-awaited direct listing on the NYSE, with shares closing at $69.47 for a fully diluted value of $45.3 billion—a gargantuan valuation for a video game company that rose to prominence and saw massive growth during the pandemic

Why exactly can’t it just be kids?

You’re thinking of smoothies. Bananas are rarely in milkshakes.
