I've only ever heard Autumnal used for the equinox. Otherwise Autumn and Fall are also used as adjectives in American English. Fall colors. Fall planting. A cool autumn breeze.
shifty
I propose a combined American, British, Australian vernacular only using the word with fewer syllables. (New Zealand and Canada are welcome too)
British Wins:
- lift not elevator
- chips not french fries
- bin not trash can
- torch not flashlight
- loo not toilet/restroom/bathroom
- pram not stroller/baby carriage
- tap not faucet
- petrol not gasoline
- chemist not pharmacy
- sweet not candy
- jug not pitcher
American Wins:
- fall not autumn
- hood not bonnet
- truck not lorry
- pants not trousers
- cart not trolley
- subway not underground
- eggplant not aubergine
- sink not washbasin
Australian Wins:
- thongs not flip flops/slippers
Thanks for this, I appreciate the info!
There's two moving parts here.
The 360 degree swivel part was fine.
The left-to-right 180 degree swivel part failed. Which is the most important part cause the USB-C port is on the bottom of my phone and I like to charge it when I'm holding it.
Yeah its perfectly fine and tasty! Especially if you know what a soda bread is an are expecting that. The lemon poppy seed one looks amazing, I might try to make one from scratch since I have all the ingredients in the pantry anyway (except for ascorbic acid)
The best thing you can do for these types of recipes is to stop mixing immediately after the dry bits are incorporated, and bake the batter immediately after mixing since the baking powder and baking soda make bubbles immediately when you mix in your fizzy acidic beverage of choice. Same reason why you don't wanna over mix pancake batter, better to leave it lumpy and slightly undermixed.
Edit: Compare the top of your baked bread to the top in their marketing materials: did you add too much liquid (the recipe says 10oz not the full 12oz beer) or overmix?
Its all losses on paper, unrealized losses.
I could see them all coming out ahead in some other way, tax minimization, write downs/write offs, other financial methods not accessible to normal people that don't have a fleet of accounts and tax lawyers on retainer. And they'll all be ready to profit massively during and after any future crash.
The cynic in me says that they all have a bunch of call/put options, algorithmic high frequency trading and dark pools at the ready, or other bets that'll make them massively rich and any upcoming stock market crash is calculated and planned by influencing a bought president. Maybe that's giving them too much credit but the people that advise these billionaires and the president are definitely ready to profit off of whatever is coming.
This is why I stopped using sites like Agoda for over a decade. Only time I don't book direct is when its through my credit card rewards portal, redeeming points for nights.
Magic wand time: Make the entire bay area a single entity like NYC, Tokyo, or London. Extend the zoning plan to the entire bay area, get rid of minimum parking space requirements in other cities in the metro, invest in transit and build infill stations in the new areas with planned increases in density.
The drug problem is another issue, but if the bay area were more affordable there would be fewer people forced out on to the streets who then turn to drugs.
