Yeah i think the 20k was an estimate of a total of jobs in the affected sector, not all of which would be cut? I'd have to look into the source again but yeah, it was pretty clearly cxu bullshit.
German CDU did similar bullshit.
They cut funding in renewables, costing those sectors >100k jobs to protect around 20k jobs.
One might think it wasn't about jobs at all, but that sweet sweet lobby money

To get into commander i think it makes sense to find some reconstructed decks that seem interesting to you. A lot of them are very upgradable, giving you a good base to build on.

Idk about the scope being so crazy, there are similar games executing such concepts well. It was simply the execution of the systems and overall game and level design. That and the terrible technical issues that really held back whatever they had managed this far.
