Tiktok has without a doubt taken a flame thrower to young people's attention spans, to be sure, but on the other hand it's probably done more to open the eyes of young people to the realities of the genocide in Gaza than anything else in the world.

I'm like 99% certain that this is being pushed strongly by Israel behind-the-scenes. They're seeing that young people fucking despise them and they're freaking out about it.

Yeah Al Jazeera actually just released a documentary on this yesterday. It is systematic.

Check out the italki app. You can get personalised lessons for a pretty good price there, and with someone who actually lives in China no less.

Best take I've heard so far on AI is to compare to Jurassic Park and the old "you were to focused on whether or not you could and not whether or not you should" quote. Scientists in real life don't do that, they don't just think of the craziest shit they could dream up and then do it and just see what happens. But apparently fucking computer engineers do.

AFAIK the only justification ever used to defend daylight savings is "won't sombody think of the poor farmers", and I once saw a post in reddit-logo /r/farming where even the farmers were complaining about how god damned pointless it is.

Everybody hates it.

Also small business owners just like to fucking complain about dumb pointless bullshit and they are the very first people the local media goes to interview for basically any story.

For some reason they're worshipped as the most important people in any municipality, even though they're the most callous penny-pinchers.

Well if you want to stroke your confirmation bias, Austerity Ecology is a fantastic ecomodernist book. If you prefer audio/video he's been on plenty of podcasts including Chapo.

He does call out a lot of de-growth folks in his book, so you could likely get plenty of other-side pro-degrowth author recommendations just from reading that.

He's also a co-author of another fantastic book The People's Republic of Wal-Mart which is all about planned economies.

I don't know what drug concoction they pumped him full of before hand but he was much more ummm ... awake and alert than I had anticipated. Ahead of time I half expected him to just drop dead on stage half way through.

I find it hilarious that he can keep making these speeches full of shit that he's had ample time to accomplish already but always finds a reason or excuse not to. And the libs just lap it up. So disappointing.

Wanna see what libs thought of it?

blob-no

100% yes. Was in a hotel lobby once, complete stranger (white middle aged woman) hits me up as we are both waiting around doing nothing, took her less than ten minutes to start complaining about how there are too many asians and vaccines cause autism.

As a Canadian I usually shy away from confrontation but I straight up told her she was incredibly racist and just left the room lol.
