Yeah he's one of the best directors ever, doing a boring story, but it's the most visually spectacular stuff ever.

Psychedelics can have bad interactions with SSRIs. So wait a few weeks after stopping before trying.

If this amazing product is going to change the world, how is it not making enough money?

Paper 100%. It's just a better reading experience for me. I can flip around more easily. I enjoy how it feels in my hand.

Give me a decent chunk of the company so I make proportional profits. Otherwise, no thanks.

Well to be fair it probably can send dank memes, as long as a human already created the memes

Do you think the fediverse has a civility problem?

Short answer: yes.

Long answer: social media (and humans) have a civility problem. And I wonder how much of it is astroturfed. When Trump was first running for the 2016 election, social media was flooded with racism. You disagreed with one twitter egg, and five more were like "debate me bro" and they had all these stats about race-science, and rhetoric to misconstrue the nature of equality and the value of liberalism. I don't think it was grassroots. I think it was Steve Bannon's troll army or some other coordinated institution. Here on Lemmy I keep seeing violent leftist rhetoric, and I also wonder if it's feds, or reddit's goons undermining the competition. They'll post "murder all pigs" or "shoot fascists" and get like a thousand upvotes, and their arguments are belligerent and idiotic, and they pile on you for disagreeing. Feels coordinated. Feels like 2016 honestly.

is there anything we can do about it?

Downvote, report, block. Don't engage (trying to remember that myself). But I bet they're still driving people away.

And when they're done I'll get a normal price ticket since it will still be in theaters. Some people have too much money apparently.

And pages upon pages describing mountains. The Hobbit was an amazing book though.

Yeah they were way too emotional in the movie. I much prefer the seriousness of the book where they acted like mature adults. And Gandalf was more badass in the books, and Gimli wasn't just comic relief in the books. But the visuals were amazing in the movie. 10/10 for visuals.

They're literally trying to sell this land, with a "for inquiries" sign. I'm showing respect for their game.

Also, 99% of this sub is just memes, not shit posts at all. Look how sincere and mean and hurt you are.

Your shit attitude towards others

Um, that's you. Lighten up.

A few blocks from parliament in our nation's capital there's this ancient trashy brick shack with junk cars in the lot, surrounded by brand new apartment buildings. They're holding out for a big payout I bet.

One quick exercise to turn you into a Real Man!

I'm unemployed, and my living situation doesn't give me much space or peace to get any kind of work done. So I either want to find co-working space to rent, or coffee shops that don't play music and will allow me to stay for hours. I don't want to use the public libraries anymore. And I don't want to insult them by explaining why, let's just take "public libraries" off the table. Co-working spaces are probably what I'll go for, but wow they're expensive. I'm glad to hear some recommendations of co-working spaces that will let me sit and write (code and prose) whenever I want. Bonus points if they have a kettle so I can make tea. Please share your ideas and experiences!

I know the Tea Store in the Byward Market has a nice selection of loose teas (highly recommended), but I'm hoping to find something nearer to downtown or Elgin. Not looking for bagged teas, but a place that actually stocks some loose teas where I can conveniently stop for a while without the detour to Byward Market. A restaurant is fine. It doesn't have to be a tea shop. Thanks!

General history, preferably. Perfect Books has some niche histories and trivia, but I want to read the whole thing from the beginning (in hardcopy, not digital).

Thanks!
