As in, it's applying a force on the pci-e slot in the direction of the back plate? That makes sense.

On the other hand, when I turn it back upright, gravity will apply a downward force on the pci-e. :(

I will try loosening the screws so the lateral force is less but still enough to counteract gravity.

You're right the cable doesn't insert properly. :( I'm Hoping to use this machine as a headless server with a graphics card for jellyfin transcodes, and thought that it would be better to be partially secured like this than free floating, especially when I turn the computer back upright.

But if low profile to full-size adapter brackets are standardized, that seems like a better solution. It was just too funny to not take this picture.

Definitely supported the Republicans. It was a red flag to hold opinions like this:

Here is our official response, also available on the Mastodon post in the screenshot: Corporate capture of Dems is real. In 2022, we campaigned extensively in the US for anti-trust legislation. Two bills were ready, with bipartisan support. Chuck Schumer (who coincidently has two daughters working as big tech lobbyists) refused to bring the bills for a vote. At a 2024 event covering antitrust remedies, out of all the invited senators, just a single one showed up- JD Vance. By working on the front lines of many policy issues, we have seen the shift between Dems and Republicans over the past decade first hand. Dems had a choice between the progressive wing (Bernie Sanders, etc), versus corporate Dems, but in the end money won and constituents lost. Until corporate Dems are thrown out, the reality is that Republicans remain more likely to tackle Big Tech abuses.

He's not wrong about the Democrat party choosing the establishment over the progressive wing, but the idea that he supports the Republicans as being more likely to reign in tech companies is so laughable it's not even funny, and makes you wonder why Andy Yen believes it.

What other commenters have said before though is true: aside from this incident with the CEO, Proton has been careful to stay politically neutral and on message... It damaged their public trust but didn't destroy it.

Boards of Canada set it to music very well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-FI6D8ZXpc

Now that the show is over
And we have jointly exercised our constitutional rights
We would like to leave you with one very important thought

Sometime in the future, you may have the opportunity
To serve as a juror in a censorship case or a so-called obscenity case
It would be wise to remember that the same people
Who'd stop you from listening to Boards Of Canada
May be back next year to complain about a book, or even a TV program

If you could be told of what you can see or read
Then it follows that you can be told what to say or think
Defend your constitutionally protected rights
No one else will do it for you, thank you

Can someone grep Wayland and tell us what you find?

IDK how I would do that on my phone.

Am I? Or does it think I'm a bot?

I guess it's on brand for Google to try and squeeze more value out of a product by making it worse for users. Just like Prabhakar Raghavan ruined Google search.

Hey anyone have an idea? I remember the hook but SoundHound doesn't know it.

Hi all,

I started self hosting nextcloud only. Now I have a domain name and I would like to selfhost more services and websites on subdomains without having to open up more ports on my router.

  1. Is it reasonable to use a reverse proxy server to avoid opening up more ports?
  2. Can I use a reverse proxy manager that simplifies SSL certs, etc?
  3. Can I put the HTTP/HTTPS services behind a reverse proxy, behind a free cloudflare DNS proxy to mask my IP address?
  4. And put other non-http services on the real IP address.
  5. Will all of this be more prone to failure and slow compared to forwarding 443 and 80 directly to my nextcloud server?

The other services I would like to eventually host and have accessible externally are

  • Jitsi
  • Mastodon instance (hoping to make some bots that mirror other social media to bring them into Mastodon)
  • blog website
  • Veilid maybe
  • OpenVPN over TCP on 443 (to get through restrictive firewalls on e.g. school wifi networks that don't whitelist domains)
  • Synology to Synology backup.

I'm hoping to use Yunohost on a RPI to simplify hosting a lot of these things.

Here's my plan where I'm looking for feedback. Am I missing any steps? Are my assumptions correct?

  1. Install reverse proxy on yunohost; configure cloudflare DNS and freedns.afraid.org to point towards the reverse DNS server.
  2. Configure the reverse DNS to redirect various subdomains to
  • the raspberry pi running nextcloud
  • the other raspberry pi running openvpn
  • the Synology running the backup service
  • services running on the yunohost raspberry pi

I have not been able to find good documentation about how to configure the yunohost reverse proxy, or how to deal with HTTP headers, or have correct certificates on all the subdomains as well as the reverse proxy. Looking for advice on how to move forward and or simply this setup.

I see there is also a 'selfhosted' community that is more broad than tailscale
