UK here, I pay £5 a month for 3GB. I could pay more for more, but I don't really need it.

If moving to another language erases 15 years of experience, you probably don't have a good grasp on the fundamentals...

One thing that could be interesting to discuss is character creators and general restrictions on what a player avatar can and can't do.

For example:

  • Require all player + npc relationships to be hetero.
  • Have most relationships be hetero, but sprinkle one or two bi characters for spice.
  • Lock certain clothing options or body styles to specific genders.
  • Tie the player's pronouns and voice to their gender.
  • Tie the player's gender to what's in their pants.
  • Restrict genetal options to a boolean "male" or "female" (intersex people exist).
  • Force the player to only be in a monogamous relationship.
  • Allow the player to be polyamous but inexplicably punish them for being too poly (Looking at you, Stardew).

I can't claim to fully understand the things that you've gone through, but I've been dealing with my own past and have noticed a few things about my thought processes.

Fisrstly, for me at least, it's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that "nobody cares". That's probably because of social media focusing on the negative or me looking for things to be upset about. It's not really true through; a lot of people have been through horrible things and there's a lot of advocates out there campaigning for rights and protections. Ultimately, I'm not alone, even though that's how it feels some times.

Possibly related to the above, I also have been putting pressure on myself to "fix" these issues. Often to the point where I'm "not allowed to be happy" because there's so much suffering in the world. But I saw a post where someone brought up that being an advocate is a full time job with training and a required skillset. I don't think it's fair for me to put those kinds of expectations on myself, especially with my own mental health issues. I'm trying to adopt a mindset of doing what I can, where I can and not stressing about "not doing enough".

Anyway, rambling over. Not sure if my experiences are helpful, but there you go. :P

If I may give some generic unsolicited advice: Take care of yourself; give yourself space and time to heal. Don't put too much pressure on yourself to move forward quickly. Take care of your physical needs (sleep, hydration, exercise, diet). And good luck.

If people are actually triggered by any discussion of rape, then they might have a text filter set up to block posts containing the string "rape"... Which this post won't get blocked by either.

As an aside, presumably "sexual assault" is a better content warning flag than "rape". More neutral and less emotionally loaded.

Lots of comments about gaming from people assuming that companies will continue supporting their kernel anticheat on Windows 10 after it hits eol.

Windows 11 is much more convenient for identity tracking, so they'll probably push for people to upgrade because Windows is too "insecure" for their games.

Wonder if ChatGPT just scraped an example token from somewhere and is using that.

The playdate's crank thing was an interesting gimmick that opened up new ways of controlling games. They also had a number of other design decisions and limitations that breed creativity.

This just reminds me of the Mario Galaxy games. Rather than pressing a button to attack, you instead swing the wiimote just for the sake of being a gimmick. The coin is just a fancier switch or button; what can you do with the coin that you can't do by holding a button combo?

Also, those coins are absolutely going to get lost, hopefully they're 3D printable. And hopefully they're not fomo tokens where you need to buy them separately...

Still, I hope I'm wrong about this and it does turn out to be good. Is certainly an interesting idea.

Database was like "Mondays, am I right?".

e621 in theory is a general archive site for furry art, it's not just adult stuff. A lot of it is adult stuff, but I guess that just comes with the territory of furry stuff.

I think it's technically illegal, so they've got a "do not post" list. You can ask to be put on that list and people should stop posting your art there. They do give credit, which is better than a lot of art scraping places, but it's up to you.

Congrats on making art popular enough for people to want to archive, though. :P

I've read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I know where this is going.
