For anyone nostalgic about video game manuals, I'd recommend the game Tunic and going into it as blind as possible.

When you get a message, but it's from the Fediverse Chick.

Server side anticheat needs to be tailer-made for every game; you need to have logic that understands how your game plays and what conditions mark a cheater.

With the kernel level client anticheat, you only need to verify one thing: that the user hasn't modified the game files. It's not 100% effective, but it's effective enough to keep script kiddies away.

I mean, bait aside, creating a new distro with an existing package manager allows you to set up a different set of default packages and even add your own new/updated ones. That's the value of it there.

If I wanted to self host a search engine, I'd just use a proper one that actually searches content rather than regurgitates bullshit.

Search engines worked just fine until Google and Microsoft decided that they wanted to sell their AI products.

Honestly, I'd go as far as to say that any social media platform above a certain size should allow custom clients/API access.

If you want the official app to be telemetry ridden AI powered slop, whatever. Just let me use an alternate client to skip all that and customize it to my liking.

Only Bedrock is predatory, Java edition was released before Microsoft got their hands on it.

Unless it's a JavaScript app which uses some random build system (that was popular when they started work on the app but is now outdated) that you need to set up and learn.

Or it's a Python app that doesn't work because you don't have the right version of python and backwards compatibility is a myth.

Whether WotC did this intentionally or not, Baldur's Village has too dedicated a following—and nuking it is so bad a look—that I don't think any company would willingly endure the PR fallout that comes from destroying it.

Isn't this the company that sent the Pinkertons after someone and tried to retroactively collect loyalties on everyone supporting their content? I don't think they'll let something as simple as PR get in the way of neverending profit.

UK here, I pay £5 a month for 3GB. I could pay more for more, but I don't really need it.

If moving to another language erases 15 years of experience, you probably don't have a good grasp on the fundamentals...
