I grew up in a tiny mountain valley 1000m above sea level. We had this small ski resort and in winter we would always go there. We could just ski down the street and take the first lift next to the street. This was for 2 months at least the case each winter. Nowadays there isn't as much snow anymore. The single remaining lift is mostly closed and you could ski down the street on a few days only. And this was just 20 years ago!!
We have a also a bigger resort around here. There is a slope all the way down to the parking lot. Hasn't been open in years now😕
and probably all the files in personal folders are synced to onedrive.
Very sad to hear but totally understandable. Unfortunately, this will make the centralization of lemmy world even worse.
How much effort is it actually to host a small instance? I am thinking about hosting one mostly for my self. Mainly because I am interested in the technology. Also my country doesn't have one so that could be a topic too if there is some interest. But hearing this I am not so sure anymore. I can't put many hours into it each week just to keep it running.

I can see your points. But it is still the stupidest tactic to stay away from the election. If one candidate is even 1% better than the other, vote for that one. glad I am not the only one. I even disabled the Bing and Websearch bullshit, but somehow in 1 of 5 cases the search result is not the software I am looking for. Even when I type exactly its name.
Thx, the second link is exactly what I was looking for. Guess I missed that one somehow. We are not planning to go off map. We are experienced hikers. Not gonna take any risk in foreign territory, mostly likely without signal.
