I would agree with you on this if it weren't for the fact that scam ads are so widespread on Youtube and Google that it's almost like they don't care about their users, only money. If they don't care about their users, why should I care about their bottom line. Also, ads I don't have too much of a problem with, but data collection and surveillance I do, and it's hard to block one without blocking the other.

how do you get that bottom powerline on the terminal?

right, this would be cool if it's self hostable. i wouldn't hold my breath though, knowing microsoft.

i think that algorithm-based content suggestion can be a good thing if implemented correctly, it's just that what's good and what's profitable doesn't always align. sometimes i wonder what the world would look like right now if actually decent algorithms are the norm instead of the absolute cancer that's common right now.

i see, i'm planning on moving to NixOS from gentoo this weekend, and doom emacs was basically my only concern. i guess if even henrik lissner is using it, then it should be fine

recommendation: something simple like fedora

favourite: either NixOS or gentoo

how do you set up doom emacs on NixOS? do you just do the usual install process or can you make it declarative with nix?
