ok I'm going to TRY to explain his thinking but I'm likely going to come off as racist trying to explain it.

What he's saying is there are those who earned their wealth via hard work and all that other bullshit and others that just got it handed to them or give off the impression that they're insanely wealthy when "they're not".

this is what he likely means when he says "n-word rich". Because this morons impression of wealth in the Black community is via watching music videos and watching reality TV. He's watched way too many youtube vids about such and such Black music artist or athlete who wears all this "bling" has all these cars and a huge mansion with nothing in it but meanwhile said person is broke. that's what he means by "n-word rich".

he could have just said "The problem is the majority of billionaires aren't actually billionaires. They just think they are."

it's like they read Crichton and thought "ooooh these are all fantastic ideas....lets ignore the Compys eating the little girl alive and do the rest."

so essentially Colossal is InGen.

what's happening is our current system right now is in the process of failing. it's dying, it didn't work and it can no longer sustain itself. Someone once said something along the lines of "When the current system fails, the next one will consist of whatever ideas are left"

So what ideas are left? the ideas of the far right, just like far right ideas are ALWAYS left when a system is about to die. So all these governments, all these wealthy individuals, all these people that have the most to gain are are going start backing the new up coming system. We're seeing it in real time.

But this has happened time and time again. We're a collectively dumb species and love watching repeats. it's always the same song and dance "well lets go this way, sure it didn't work out last time but I don't believe it'll happen to us THIS time".

So it's not so much "what the fuck is this timeline" but rather "well it's our generations turn for bullshit". And it always skips a generation. So the boomers didn't experience it, but their parents did, and now it's our turn. Hopefully our children or our Kids children will be smarter than boomers but...we as humans sure do love watching reruns.

soon? it always has been. Does no one remember the whole CDO shit? buying insurance on bullshit loans or packaged loans/debts of quite literally shit? no one knew what the fuck was in those things, literally no one. The rating agencies would rate these things and have no fucking clue what the hell they were. They handed loans out like halloween candy to Americans just to get more shit into these things.

the US Market has been fraudulent for decades.

Tin foil hat time but I said last year on Mastodon that the reason EA was killing games like Apex and Battlefield for Linux was that soon Microsoft was going to announce their own handheld and EA has close ties with MS due to EA Play on Gamepass for example. Sure enough less than a year later Microsoft announces their Xbox Handheld with Asus and guess which games will work on that.

Basically it'll be "you want to play Madden and Battlefield on a handheld? well don't buy the SteamDeck, get this Xbox Handheld instead!"

[–] rozodru@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

you can still play BF3 and 4 with some work arounds. Liam (guy's site that this article is from) posted the other week on his site how to get 3 and 4 working. nothing major at all just a couple extra steps to get it going which is no biggie if you're on linux, you're used to the extra steps.

it's funny cause just the other week I found out you can still play 3 and 4 on Linux so I was like "oh perfect! I do miss me some battlefield" I load up steam and see BF1, BFV, BF2042 but I could have sworn I also owned 3 and 4 and I do.....on Origin.

expect a lot more of the "ostrich syndrome" from this admin. Can't tell your glorious leader the bad news otherwise you'll lose your job OR eventually, soon, they'll just send you either to florida or the nearest tallest window they can find.

really? that's interesting because yeah when I lived in Tucson they were huge.

Thank you, appreciate the answer.

yes when I installed Arch a week later a pair of stockings showed up in the mail oddly enough.

I found that Wayland had a serious lack of what I liked, which is manual tiling. Sure there is Cagebreak but it doesn't support layer shell so no panels, notifications, or even wallpaper. Forked from Cagebreak and inspired by both Cagebreak and Herbstluftwm I wanted to have a frame based manual tiler WITH layer shell, xwayland, relative pointer and pointer constraint support thus NEDM.

It's by no means in a daily driver state. heres a video of it in action: http://andmc.ca/mov/nedm.mp4

I'm a huge CLI/TUI user. if I can find something and run it via the terminal, i'll opt for the germinal over a GUI every time. With Mastodon I noticed there were only a couple options and one of which was pretty much orphaned so I decided to build my own.

It's not done, still adding features, but the prime basic functionality is there. you can post, you can reply, you can search, look at peoples profiles, open images and links. you have options for home, local, and fedi timelines. you can view threads.

just wanted to share https://codeberg.org/rozodru/mastui

edit: I've moved to codeberg so all updates will be there now.

🧠 Are You Burned Out on “Big EVE”? You’ve seen it before. A dozen blues on comms, five hours of structure bashing, waiting on a ping that never comes, and “PvP” that means anchoring up and pressing F1 while 10% TiDi renders your client unusable. And for what? A system no one lives in and a killmail you don’t even remember. If you’re still logging in, it’s probably because you still love EVE, but the EVE you want — the one that rewards aggression, creativity, and independence — doesn’t exist in null-sec blocs. We know. We were there too. Then we left. And now we’re building something different.

🏴‍☠️ Who Are Echoes of the Hollow? We’re a small, vicious pirate corp based in low-sec space, specializing in:

  • Gatecamps with spine – anchored BCs with dual-web support and eyes two jumps out.
  • Small-gang roams that look for real fights, not killboard padding.
  • Baitless brawling – we don’t light a cyno and run. If we tackle, we mean it.
  • Smart aggression – we scout, we prep, and we hit hard.

This isn’t sov space. There are no timers. No blues. No politics. Just ships, wrecks, and adrenaline.

🧬 Corp Culture Echoes is built for people who:

  • Prefer 6v6 to 60v60
  • Laugh off losses and learn from them
  • Think killmails are earned, not assigned
  • Love theorycrafting strange fits that shouldn’t work — but sometimes do
  • Want to log in, get a fight, and log off without a two-hour form-up

We’re not trying to be the biggest. We’re trying to be the sharpest. If you want to fly with competent pilots who aren’t afraid to engage outnumbered and don’t need to pad a resume, you’ll fit right in. We like to joke, trash talk, and dunk. If you tilt easily, or can’t take being laughed at (or with), this isn’t your corp.

⚙️ What We Actually Do A “night in the Hollow” looks like:

  • Sitting on a high-sec/low-sec pipe gate with a Harbinger, Broadsword, and a couple dual-web Exeqs
  • An alt two jumps out calls incoming — Catalyst, Tornado, Orca? We don’t care.
  • If it jumps, it dies.
  • The fleet responds instantly, locks it down, and deletes it. Sometimes they bring friends. That’s even better.

Off-cycle? We roam, blops, scout high-sec, or just shoot the shit while spinning Machs. We always have ships on hand. We always have eyes out. And we always have a target list.

🎯 What We’re Looking For This isn’t a newbro corp. We don’t hand-hold. We don’t fleet-warp you to a doctrine ship and tell you what button to press. You should apply if:

  • 🧠 You’ve got 20M+ SP and know how to move in low-sec
  • 🎯 You can scan, scout, and think — not just follow
  • 🗣️ You talk on voice, call targets, and bring ideas
  • 👥 You’re self-sufficient but like flying with a team

Alt scouts are a huge bonus. Cynos, probers, and logistics pilots earn instant respect. You should not apply if:

  • You only want to blob and pad the KB
  • You don’t enjoy dying sometimes
  • You rage on comms
  • You need handouts to log in

🧱 What We Offer

  • Daily PvP in prime gatecamping territory
  • Discord pings and organized comms
  • Tactical flexibility — we try dumb stuff because it works
  • Zero pressure to be on 24/7. Real life always comes first

🔗 Links & Intel

💬 Final Words If you’re reading this, chances are you’re already bored with how everyone else does things. We were too. That’s why Echoes of the Hollow exists — not to follow the meta, but to ruin it for everyone else. Come gatecamp with pirates who actually hold the gate. Come be the villain./
