I’m sure that we would find a viable solution if Ruud ever wanted to leave things behind. Not all solutions require paying someone a salary for it, which seems to be your implication here.

Beyond "raise enough resources to pay a professional", can you think of any solution that is not a variation of "keep finding fresh volunteers to work until they burn out"?

Buy the domain you want, I will host it for you. :)

If this is your choice, you need to upvote the original comment, not add your own. ;)

When there was the first talk about moving away from LW and I first proposed soccer.forum, there was a whole lot of bikeshedding around the name of the community. So, last year I got a domain that could work for both the American and European crowds, and if there is interest about moving to a topic-specific instance while opposing the soccer.forum domain, I can quickly set up the new instance.

I just checked one post from lemm.ee that was migrated to piefed. You are keeping two different objects with the same id, but altering the content to change the audience. I'd have to agree with @sabreW4K3@lazysoci.al, that would definitely qualify as falsification.

What about "as:audience" attributes from the original "Create(Page)" activities? Does this mean that you are completely rewriting history?

[–] rglullis@communick.news 2 points 2 months ago

Yeah, but there are several other communities talking about moving to piefed.

The communities were created, it doesn't mean that they have people using them. I'm just hoping now that the people will be forced to move out of lemm.ee that maybe this change can be done to these topic-specific instances.

I will repeat my comment from yesterday.

the following communities have already an alternative on instances that I run

All these instances have been running for close to two years and are part of the “topic-specific” network of servers that I set up to help during the migration.

There is a whole instance for hardware at https://hardware.watch/. I could create a community there and add both mods there if you want.

Excuse my pedantry, but from the point of view of ActivityPub, it is.

Any remote instance sees your posts to any community as a as:Announce activity. All that the community is doing is boosting your comments/posts, and that can be done by anyone else.

Ok, I watch the video with presenting the feature. @rimu@piefed.social, what is the AP representation of posts?
