I'm local, he's my state M.P. The reason he was re-elected was because he was (and undoubtedly still is) extremely popular with the kind of people who live in this part of the world - by which I mean (mainly) white and well-off. He's without doubt one of the slimiest most vile and repugnant people I've ever met, but he has this base he's built in almost Trump-like way that loves him. Women of a certain age defend his every action on the local FB groups and are giving off very Trump-like vibes about the verdict ("how could the jury do this?" etc). He will, of course, appeal the verdict because he has literally nothing to lose by doing so.

Reminded of the famous moment with Peter's unfortunate exit from politics.

Read this story this morning in my feed. Pretty shocking outcome to be honest. They'd been trying for EIGHT years to get these EV chargers funded for their region and then the mayor watched that channel 7 video about nickel mining in Indonesia. On the basis of that video he called a motion to cancel the install and it passed 4:3. Turns out that he also has some constituents who 'regularly contact him' whenever anything about renewables comes up - I'm sure you can imagine the type - and he decided to pull the pin. Side note - the ch.7 doco was debunked - turned out literally nobody uses the nickel from that Indonesian mine in car batteries because it's too low quality. He also failed to mention what the nickel in car batteries has to do with EV chargers that, since this is in Queensland, are probably powered by fucking COAL.

I went to the one at Albion Park Rail when it opened and it felt like a run-down post-apocalyptic eatery even though it had only been open for two weeks. I've eaten at Taco Bell in the US and can confirm it's every bit a shite.

Good luck with that. He's employed by Gina Rhinehart to protect her interests - and protections from climate change are contrary to her business goals.

They've got absolutely fuck all of any use to say about anything - they're just 'anti' the greens. No policies, no big ideas, just opposed to another party. Fucking useless nazis.

I'll be voting for whoever seems the most communist. Which is of course literally none of them. Even on the left-wing ones are just centrists.

What a legend. Love it.

Thunderstorm just rolling over the village, but the house battery is fully charged and I need not fear the inevitable power cut.

You're a legend - no judgement here about how you choose to go with the courts .

FFS. We had 12.75kw of panels installed on the roof and a 13.5kw battery in the garage six months ago, and we weren't under any illusion as to the money we'd get feeding back into the grid. It was literally the last thing on our minds. We use all the power we can during the day (washing machine, dishwasher, tumble dryer all set to come on at about 11am), cook the big meal on the induction hob at lunchtime, run the aircon all day long. On sunny days the battery's full before midday. In the evening the battery kicks in and sees us through to about 11pm if we've been running the aircon and right through to the next day if not. Zero expectations in this household for earning money from the electricity we produce.

Made chunky bolognaise in the Thermomix we inherited from my dad and it fucking rocked. Wasn't sure about the worcestershire sauce and the chilli flakes, but went with it - very glad I did.

Oh no! Anyway …

Sea mist burnt off about 15 seconds after I took this photograph. Location: Gerringong, New South Wales, Australia

Decided to photograph Hole in the Wall in Booderee NP for sunset this evening. No offence to the tourists, but it's great having spots like this completely to yourself for an evening.
