Do not stick this bottle in your anus.

It would be a protostar, I believe. As the gas required for the star collapses in to itself from gravity, it will get still get super hot as density increases. It still takes a bit for the heat and pressure to reach a point to start fusion.

Edit: Conflicting report that it may have started fusing hydrogen: https://www.iflscience.com/it-looks-like-weve-found-betel-buddy-betelgeuses-suspected-companion-star-80082

As a young child, that is exactly how I felt about that style. I knew I really hated it. There was no openness to rooms and everything felt drab. It was a style that felt outdated even before I knew what "outdated" even meant.

The smell is the biggest thing I remember. The wood paneling and those types of carpets always had that smell. Well, it was either that smell or the lingering odor of old cigarette smoke and spilled scotch.

By the time I started becoming truly self-aware, the 90's hit and I was awakened with a blast of neon colors. (My brain doesn't want to remember anything much from the late 80's other than my Velcro shoes and jean jacket.)

Totally agree as alcoholism really is a self diagnosed issue in its early stages. As you called out, it starts exactly how you describe. You can stop for weeks with no side effects, but once you have that first drink, you are on a fucking mission to make up for lost time. Alcoholism just develops so many different ways for so many different people it can be confusing when trying to define it.

It's not that the drinks per day/week is a bogus metric, it's a logical average trajectory to become physically dependent over time. It may take years, but it's a possibility. Of course, everyone's physiology is different, so there is that.

Since we are talking about physical dependency and/or cravings, it was a slow path for me, but nearly an instant transition when I realized addiction had formed. When I stopped being able to solder wires together because my hands shook so much, that was a big clue. The cravings were not as sharp as nicotine can be, but it was deeper and more driven as a need to ease the late morning shakes. I couldn't physically function without downing a few glasses of wine before lunch.

I went for years with being able to stop for days as a time, until I couldn't. It was almost if I had crossed a very specific threshold, and I was stuck.

TBH, I am super glad you never felt compelled to drink and I would never wish that feeling on anyone. You saw the warning signs of alcoholism way before many do, so be proud of yourself for that.

Oh, was I using the correct lingo for hundred year old methane powered shit gushers? I had no idea. Lol!

Doctors have put numbers around what is considered excessive drinking, but the rule of thumb is that if you think you might have a problem, you probably do. TBH, this is for you to decide and it's an extremely serious question for you to think about on your own. ("Binge" drinking is defined as more than 4 or 5 drinks per night. Lulz wut? Rookie numbers. /s)

Alcoholism is a progressive disease. When I stopped, I was doing a 12 pack on week days, and much more on the weekends. Whatever my actual "numbers" were, I always drank till I blacked out. My life was basically centered around drinking time without me realizing it.

Probably the best thing to do first is see a doctor. Be open and honest about how much you drink and get a plan on how to stop. If you have crossed the threshold into physical alcohol dependency, quitting cold turkey can be dangerous. Get a medical assessment first, please.

Alcohol dependency can take years to develop. Intense cravings and "the shakes" are a good warning sign that you have crossed that boundary, but that may not always be the case.

While I am not a fan of twelve step recovery programs, they can work for some people. A a minimum, do some reading into A.A. and the 12 steps of recovery. At a minimum, those recovery steps may be a good barometer of how much of an alcoholic you are. (ie: are you in denial; how much of your life have you trashed because of booze; how many people have you hurt; etc, etc.) There are many recovery programs out there, so look around. The goal is to at least give you an idea of the ride you are in for if you are actually an alcoholic.

The weird part is that it still looks like The Rock.

use spent oil reservoirs

Ok, that lead to some giggles thinking about some company drilling in the future thinking they were about to hit a strangely untapped oil field.

Add a hundred years of methane pressure build up and that could be really interesting gusher.

You are a milkmaid?

Edit: My joke was based on a corrected typo, "we're". IDGAF about online typos unless they have a humorous aspect. Cheers!

Welp, since we have gone down that path, I think this liberal talking point is hysterical: https://youtu.be/K9AF6OtHtYs

(The above even includes a hair of excessive drama that is even a bit much for me.)

I await your wall of URLs of counter points, hopefully mixed with some deflection and tie-ins to political affiliation. According to your brethren on ml, the issues with these cities were resolved two years ago...

Also, did you notice which community you are in?

I have no problem with Michael being the focus of Disco, but yeah, there wasn't any cohesion in much of the overall storyline. (With all of its problems, I still enjoyed Disco until just after they returned from the "other place". [Trying not to spoil])

For the life of me, I still don't know what they were trying to prove with massive pivot on the Klingons. They should have made those characters a separate race and used them as a first step in positive Klingon/Human unification, in stereotypical Start Trek fashion. (I mean, the timelines and lore was so broken by Disco, anything goes at that point.)

"Social credit", the bullshit about Taiwan being "native territory", trying to bully their way into territory expansion and their support of Russia kinda sets a specific tone, doesn't it?

Fuck that Chinese dictatorship and all the fucking Internet shills that can't help but suck CCP dick.

It's super easy to get to the bottom of propaganda articles without knobbers like you starting shit wherever they can.

This ain't about "US good" or "China bad". I am just calling out that dumbfucks like you are 90% of the problem with how people from different countries perceive each other. Did you really aim to convince anyone of your beliefs? I don't think so.

Go back to .ml where you belong.

After a post is clicked, it seems that all thumbnails are forced to refresh. (Attached image shown immediately after a click)

Also, what may just be the result of a cache clear, doom scrolling seems to cause a similar lag after scrolling past +50 posts. Thumbnail loading becomes laggy, but not sure if related to the issue above.

When the lag starts, Connect will lag fairly bad for as long as a minute. I have also turned off image preload, but that had no effect.

Side bug, changing the title in the new post edit cleared my first post body.

I am writing a security paper on AI at the moment and am looking for some juicy citations.

News articles are a bad source, unfortunately. Direct references to credible studies are ideal.

Thanks in advance!

(If you couldn't tell by which community I am making this post in, I have my own bias that I would like to exploit.)

I haven't seen this particular issue since early versions of Connect.

loops@midwest.socal is one I absolutely know is not getting blocked. (I detest short form video..)

Some blocked political communities still tend to show up as well. This is is absolutely not good for my own sanity and mental health.

Weird title, sorry. Let me try and explain.

Goal: Convert simple higher level script into a low level logic gate mess. Basically, I want to build my own custom computers in Factorio with circuit networks. I can easily create any type of logic gate that I want, similar to how computers Minecraft have been built, but with more options.

It would be super nice to code in something similar to Python but have it "compile" into clusters of logic gates. Of course, functionality would be extremely limited, but that is OK and I don't need to boil the ocean.... yet...

(TBH, this sounds really close to what I know about programming FPGAs.)

I have two MacBooks that I acquired through two different startups. Both companies no longer exist and I was basically given the laptops. (They have just been sitting in my closet for a few years collecting dust, and it seems like a waste.)

Unfortunately, now that I want to use the laptops as part of a local k8s cluster (or even dedicated music production hardware), I am locked out of wiping the things because they want to connect to MDM servers that no longer exist or have admin passwords that have long since been forgotten.

Since these laptops are essentially "bricked" I have no problems opening them up and attempting hardware hacks to get around this stuff.

Both laptops are in various states of reset or wipe due to previous attempts to reset. (Funny thing, actually. I was personally responsible for locking down one of these laptops at the time they were in corporate use...)

Trash or treasure? I dunno. I am apple-dumb.

Edit: Deleting this post. It's starting to get controversial, but that's OK. Not what I planned on, but whatevers.
