Finally reading People's Guide to Capitalism and even though it's supposed to be more if a lay person's guide to Das Kapital, I still feel very dumb. Although, I think sometimes the concepts feel so obvious that I may be confusing myself by rereading and thinking I'm missing something lol.

After college I pretty much gave up reading as I was so burnt out on it and it feels apparent how much vocab and reading comprehension I've lost by avoiding it. Just been rotting my brain with my cellphone for like a decade. I guess it just takes getting back into the swing of learning vernacular and reading quickly but I feel so inadequate cri

Regardless if you know why you feel the need, if you can, you should let yourself. As another commenter mentioned, it's a good release. It could be a million things that have built up over time that you've been shouldering needing to be dealt with emotionally with one good cry. It could be the state of the world, it could be anything. But allowing yourself to cry can be healthy. I hope you can get it out and feel better anarchy-heart

TENACIOUS D! I unironically listen to their first album a lot lol. Weird Al, obviously. Suburban Lawns, the Aquabats, Reel Big Fish, Green Day (the album Dookie in particular), Presidents of the United States of America, Primus, Mr. Bungle, the Adicts, the King Kahn & BBQ Show, Nobunny, Weedeater, Spazz, Gravy Train!!!, the Pixies, GWAR, King Diamond, Busdriver, MF Doom, Talking Heads

Your mileage may vary with some of these; some don't mean to have a funny shtick but I just find them funny personally

Yessss this; unless there's specific language about compulsory overtime in a ratified contract then OP should be able to fight termination I believe

Hmmm from my knowledge, your union can't help you get a job, unless you work in a trade like electricians union then I think the way they operate is quote a bit different from say service industry unions.

Do you have a union contract yet, or are you about to start bargaining/in the middle of bargaining?

I'd definitely speak to your union rep about this ASAP. If you don't yet have a contract, I believe that the agency is supposed to keep the status quo - meaning that they are not to make any changes to working conditions while you're in the middle of negotiations. If this rule was implemented after you unionized, it's likely that the union can advocate on your behalf because this sounds like it could be an unfair labor practice.

Anyone have experience working for the state? Not sure if I can continue working my current job so I'm curious what people's experiences have been. Most likely seeking reception/admin type positions in public health
