I should really deep dive on class casinos music, I know he's probably done a TON of music that I love but never took the time to investigate

Have you ever taken adderall/adhd meds and had them make a difference? I tried focalin once and it either didn't work or made me feel gacked out, it was...not good. But I'm literally tired all the time or will wake up super motivated to do a bunch of things....then just nap or scroll lol

I'm a huge huge fan of music, a big ol' nerd about it and I've been collecting records for like 13 years. My reasons are similar to others mentioned already. I usually listen to super underground DIY stuff and I love to support artists who come to my town, and my local record store. I like the intentionality of listening to a record; I can put it on as background music but even then I need to look over each album, pick it out and put it on instead of just quickly choosing a random playlist and not even looking at the artists. The physical ritual is really comforting.

My record collection also kinda functions similarly to a photo album for me. Each record reminds me of when I bought it, when I was super into the artist or which show I was at when I got it. Super nostalgic. I'm also just a very tactile person so the tactile aspect just changes the quality of listening to music, idk.

Also, once rapidshare/music blogs kinda died out and streaming services really took over, it's been almost impossible for me to remember new artists that discover that I like. When I used to peruse the blogspots, I'd actually read reviews, download like 2 dozen albums and listen to them and they'd end up in my normal rotation. With streaming services I have sooooo much access to so much music which I love, but it all kinda blends together and I forget to really spend intentional time listening to them

Coworker told me that on top of installing security cameras to surveil clients at our homeless services center, supposedly facial recognition technology is going to be used to send data over to our receptionist so that they can grab the mail for the client....I hope to god that this is extremely wrong, overblown, and misunderstood secondhand information because if not... sadness-abysmal

Thanks for validating that. I am really critical of myself and need to remember that. Plus I know I often have to reread things, light fiction or heavier history, because I'll go through like 2-3 paragraphs and feel like I glossed over it so I'm probably being much more scrutinizing due to that

Hell yeah, first wave Ska is usually in heavy rotation for me all summer big-cool

I'm the book I'm reading they talk about the economic recession of 2008 and how all economists were mystified as to the cause of it. The author gives very brief explanations of the chaos and behavioral theory and weather pattern theories. She also mentions how many economists believe that the market corrects itself, and so anything that happens in the economy is the way that it wad SUPPOSED to happen. Its just wild to me that these people can believe in what theyre theorizing. I dont really have a solid understanding of neoclassical economics since I haven't tried to learn but none of it seems to be tied to actual material conditions at all. It's just fully idealistic, like fiction, and if that is actually is how it is I'm just blown away by how detached these people are from reality.

I do plan on reading some neoclassical economists, if you have any recs so I can compare that would be rad.

Mad Caddies - Quality Soft Core Goleta and Bell Tower are real good from what I remember

The Specials - The Specials - A Message to you Rudy is classic, my fave is Concrete Jungle

Toots & the Maytals - Pressure Drop 54-46 (That's my Number) is my fave on this album

Thank you for that 😭 when I first read Communist Manifesto years ago I kept rereading it for the same reason; that it felt pretty circular. I was convinced that I was missing something. I know nothing of economic theory really and it's wild to me that with the examples given in this book so far, NONE of it seems to fucking make sense besides Marxist economics lol. Like who are these people and why does anyone believe in their theories? I don't get it

See if there are cool local art galleries to visit. Rent a bike and explore if you're comfy doing that. Find a nice park to people watch and eat new food. Do one famously touristy thing
