I think most of them let you set a block/filter.
I use Jerboa and I can't find any facility to block or filter a community's posts by text.
you should be able to block that specific string if you don't want to see them

That seems really odd. If a person is so disgusted that they parted an IRC channel, it seems bizarre that they would then go back to read more from the source of their disgust.
No evidence presented in that article I note. Non sequiturs abound. And how did the author know what Schestowitz was saying on IRC if the author left disgusted.
