It doesn’t automatically, agreed, it can absolutely make you a bitter vindictive asshole. But it can also make you an empathic person who understands how hard it can be. The absence of it is far more likely to make you an out of touch moron though

“It’s a banana, what could it cost, $10?” kind of thing. “If you need an accommodation just have your dad call the ceo”

This could easily be a monkeys paw situation. Perhaps the thing that makes the nd people you interact with kind and understanding is having experienced oppression

Elon musk has autism, for example, and he is a notable piece of shit

This is 100% true

Admen for companies like Monsanto in the 1950s pushed the idea of the “green lawn” and rebranded clover as a weed to push herbicides and nitrogen fertilizers

Clover is resilient with lower water needs, it’s softer, it naturally deters pests, and most importantly it pulls nitrogen from the air and pushes it into the soil.

What’s funny and sad is now they’ve come full circle and today’s admen realized they could capitalize on the instagram trend of undoing the damage of the admen from 70 years ago

Once again advertisers prove that they are absolute scumbags with no ethics whatsoever who will value making a dollar over destroying ecosystems

Fetterman was always a piece of shit and you fell for the dnc whitewashing of his garbage personality and politics. It is well documented if you even spend 5 minutes looking into his past that long before his stroke he was a rich privilege baby (was paid $50k a year by his rich dad to be mayor of his poor town that couldn’t afford to pay the mayor, thus only rich dicks could run and hold the office), that abused his power regularly (suspiciously won by a single vote the first time and when it appeared his re election may not happen he used his connections to the cops in town to leak arrest records of his opponent right before the election), hates poor people (his plan to “fix the town” was continually gentrification and not anything that would actually address the systemic issues of the town. He goes on about how he loves the town and gets the name tattooed for optics but he just loves the small class of elites that live there and wants to price out the “undesireables”), and is racist (literally held a black jogger at gunpoint with a loaded shotgun because someone set off some fireworks near his house which are legal in PA, this was years before Ahmaud Arbery was murdered in the exact same fashion, and fetterman has not only not apologized, he actively refuses to do so)

This doesn’t even cover how he was a bully as mayor, how he would circumvent democratic process and citizen input to do projects he wanted to do regardless of if anyone else wanted them, how he considered himself the “head cop” of the town, how he tried to shut down black frequented local businesses like nightclubs and made it a personal mission despite them being operated legally because he felt they were a “nuisance”

Classic democrat, always a piece of shit, always rich from birth, but a hoodie made you think he was blue collar and a stroke made you think brain damage turns people conservative. The stroke made him more impulsive, so now he has a harder time playing the optics game and hiding his true colors, but they were always clear. Read his Wikipedia page and you’ll find sources for every single thing I’ve written, none of this is controversial or conspiracy shit. It is well documented parts of his past that is just ignored because the media is complicit

Cory booker will do align himself with the view that he feels is most likely to entrench himself with money and power. He does not care about what is right

When big pharma was lining his pockets he was happy to take the money for many years. When it became unfashionable politically to do so he distanced himself and loudly proclaimed how great he was for eschewing their money but otherwise still voted in line with dems basically 100% of the time.

When Trump confirmed people booker did his optics filibuster but voted to confirm or skipped votes where he could’ve helped prevent confirmation (eg he didn’t actually do anything to prevent that Americans wouldn’t notice, he just did his filibuster that was widely reported on then went back to falling in line with leadership)

Youtube recently (as in last week) has been fuckin around with stuff to try and kill adblockers again, which means basically anyone using nonstandard browsers, VPNs, pihole/adguard dns, etc are having issues. Even some people who are using legit clients but just have an old oauth token (like phone users who logged in 2 years ago)

google will inconvenience 70% of their user base to kill adblockers (temporarily, bc I’ve already gotten ytplus working again without even needing a new build ha)

Internet id laws are fucking stupid but making parents do a good job has historically worked super well. Also parents are abusers the overwhelming majority of the time, depending on source 75-83% of child abuse is perpetuated by parents (physical/neglect). Depending on how you define things sexual abuse is perpetuated by parents or a close family member roughly 1/3rd of the time and up to as much as 80% of the time

How do you “make” parents do a good job? There are things we can do that increase the likelihood that bad parents get caught (sex education, teaching kids proper anatomy, lgbt education, etc) but those things are controversial because of the shitheads demanding id laws.

Parent training is something you can do I suppose but how do you handle this? What is the proper curriculum? What is the consequence if the parents don’t take it seriously? How do you determine if the parents aren’t taking it seriously vs they have their own systemic issues (poor education, lack of resources, etc)? The state isn’t going to help them with money or education, at least not currently

Welcome to western pediatric mental health treatment in 2025. Political barriers everywhere before you can even start to talk about “evidence based approaches” and that discussion can’t even begin because everyone is stupid now and wants the answer to be an easy sentence long solution. “Make the parents do it”, “increase mental health funding”, “stop bullying” and other nonsense platitudes that are meaningless without pages and pages of actionable steps behind them.

Even if they’re your tapes there are trackers that value this. Home movies not so much (maybe, there are probably some out there) but trackers that value vhs rips of 80s/90s/2000s shows with the original commercials/bumpers/etc?

Most definitely, that stuff is coveted some places. Even if you don’t have the original commercials and bumpers if you just taped old shows you might be able to help restore old shows to their original glory. Like the people who take 90s cartoons and restore the cut content and original soundtracks.

Beavis and butthead, Daria, the state, etc all have torrents out there where someone went through and restored content that had been cut over the years and restored licensed music that in basically all cases has still never been restored for streaming. Even if you get paramount plus or whatever platform you can watch those shows but they are not the same, they have edits and “soundalike” music because it’s not worth the money to secure the rights that weren’t secured back when streaming or even releasing entire seasons of shows onto physical media was a thing that anyone thought would happen.

The source of the material to “fix” is a combo of rips from the streaming networks, which is much higher quality, with old vhs rips to fill in the gaps for content that was censored or cut for time over the years. when a new vhsrip of a coveted show comes out people can go a bit nuts, especially if it’s a key episode and in very good quality

So if you grew up watching them and rewatch them now you spend 14.99 to see it and a scene is missing here, a song is wrong, and it sucks. Or you can pirate it and you get what was originally released
