I don't have the technical knowledge to understand lemmy's decentralized federated nonsense and I've been using it just fine. You think you need to understand how something works to use it? Or do you think idiots like me are too scared to use something we don't understand? Because I'm saying you're wrong on both counts. And if you don't like average idiots like me taking over your beloved platform then maybe you should just suck it up because I'm not going anywhere, and if this site continues to grow then pretty soon the average user will be a lot more like me than like you.

Comments like this are exactly why people aren't gonna wanna join Lemmy.

For reference: I'm one of the brain dead convenience seeking idiots you're describing. Lemmy isn't that hard to understand. What sucks about Lemmy is pretentious users like you treating it like something it isn't when in reality it's just another in a long list of average to middling message boards.

Pre-google youtube only existed for a year and it wasn't that great. What I miss is the early Google era. 2007-2010

Episodes (starring Matt LeBlanc as himself) is very much up this alley. It's a show about two British TV writers adapting their big BBC hit for American TV. It's also one of the more underrated shows out there, I don't see a lot of people talking about it and frankly it's excellent.

Being extremely common doesn't make it any less stupid

Jfc I haven't kept up with the recent Disney SW stuff but it really sounds like they jumped the shark.

Space-faring whales....cmon now

As someone who lives in a wood-heated house, what do you suggest I do? I'd rather not freeze to death and I can't afford any other heating options

I don't know if I ever came to terms with it, the thought of one day not existing has always brought me a level of deep comfort. Maybe try looking at it as a good thing instead of a bad thing.

I like Bo Burnham's titles (both from the song Rant):

"The Blue-balled Anti-masturbator" and "The Great All-loving F*ggot-hater"

Edit: the instance removed the hate speech (which I was simply quoting and don't condone) so I censored it

The prequels killed SW for me and TFA/TLJ brought my love for the series back. And then TRoS killed it again.

It's all relative, we all take different things out of these movies. I don't think you're wrong for enjoying the prequels but man I couldn't disagree with you more that they're good movies.

I would say overall I'm below average. Fairly dumb. Bottom 30% of society.

I don't mind it too much. I know a lot about cinema and film history so I'm happy with that.
