I'm still angry that the naming of a large sewage treatment plant in San Francisco after George W. Bush didn't stick.

He was never fucking charming...

I mean, granted for sure he's gotten worse, but I don't trust people who gave him a pass before the past couple of years.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that a similar, perhaps in some ways better system exists to this day in the world of Islamic finance. It's far from perfect and has plenty of real-world flaws and downfalls, but it was cool to learn about the spirit and morality behind it.

Same here, then it pops up a prompt to install the website's 'app' 🙄

My favorite way to visualize the meaning of "asshat": the person is such a sad waste of human life that their entire upper body is effectively just a hat for their posterior.

I'm not listening when he says goodbye.

I've been doing this for several years. I kept the original not-very-fine strainer on my Bodum press, because anything finer would be too hard or slow to press even after several extra minutes' wait for settling. So instead, I just transfer the coffee to a carafe after pressing, and post-filter the stuff with a paper filter.

It's not ideal, but it turns out to be the best coffee I can make in multi-cup quantities with no more expensive apparatus than just the French press. It tastes far better than any routine with coarser grounds. It seems more efficient in grounds (and time spent) than pour-over. And although my aeropress can exceed this quality when loaded with fine grounds, it can't make several cups at once.

I thought I read yesterday that they had just filed an application to be released from the legal obligation to maintain and update their landline infrastructure in the state.

The Guardian article mentions a likelihood that in the Amazon region the wet and dry seasons would trade places, making it nearly impossible for many species located there to adapt in the time frame at hand.

No, I knew you got it and were making a funny. I don't know what's up with the people who downvoted you, I was not one of them.

I only located my comment under yours because of similar subject manner, and maybe it would have been better to put it at the main level to avoid this. My intention was entirely about the barely-literate headline writers and not at all about setting you straight or whatever.
