Funny enough, I was just listening to an episode of a podcast that had the inventor and maintainer of Curl on, and they described the methods for bug solving and feature requests.

He said while he largely doesn't do most of the work, he still reads over code and denies random new internet protocols until it matures, and often by the time they worked have added it in a release the fad is gone.

I forget what they said about bugs, but I do know he said "I have good people who have written more code for my program than myself, and when they find bugs or get issues, i trust them over random github accounts."

I don't think this will last long from curl directly, the issue is devices that don't or can't be upgraded.

This is looking fun! I hope the map with the needler crystals doesn't spawn them too much.

All that matters is if you trust your VPN. You can torrent on Windows with a good VPN, and you won't get caught. You don't need linux to torrent safely.

If you're worried about copyright notices, VPNs can help with that. If you're worried about viruses, most viruses aim for Windows systems, but you can avoid them by keeping an eye out. There's viruses for macOS and Linux, but due to the smaller scale of users, most people don't bother hosting them online.

If you're afraid your law enforcement is going to bust down your door, that isn't going to happen even if you torrent hundreds of movies and shows a month. They mainly crack down on the people who host the content, your ISP would probably end your service before you went to court.

That said, if you want a more "secure" operating system, Linux can help beyond tormenting. Fedora, Linux Mint, Debian, are all solid choices for your first time use. Just know there's going to be a learning curve, and if it gives you an error, read it carefully and search online, as others have had the issue before and are willing to help.

For terminal; micro is nano but sane and easier to use.

For GUI; Kate is so incredible at any task I need. Note taking, to scripting, to planning out a small post online, it does the work easily.

Man if DS9 came out today, people would call Sisko "woke mary/gary sue".

I think Sisko would punch them for that. Rightfully.

When the KKK marches through streets with tiki torches, no state tried to stop them. Same for burning crosses in Alabama. Because the cops are in those the white robes and tacticool vests.

When the Black Panthers protected voters 1st amendment rights with the 2nd amendment, that's when laws were passed to stop gun ownership.

If the left was anywhere as close as protective and expressive of their rights as the right, we would have had nationwide gun control established decades ago.

And perhaps more protections federally too, as Congress only passed the Civil Rights Act of 1968 under duress of activists and black panthers. If feminists and queer people did the same, we would have had amendments by now.

How does voting for libertarian candidates not diminish Republican votes? Everyone says Green Party is responsible for a milquetoast candidate with low approval ratings losing an election based on popular vote.

I don't see Republicans or Democrats blaming Libertarians for when they lose, even though they are the biggest third party, registered in all 50 states, and had more votes in general than other third party candidates since Ross Perot.

And libertarians get actual money from companies who support them, like republicans. Green party doesn't. I've seen more ads for them and "vote Jo Jo" than Green party support, and yet somehow the smallest party is to blame.

And yet the centrist Democrats hate her, even though she's energized her voting base, pushed for legislation, made more interested in running for office, and doesn't bow down to Republicans because they were nice to her one time.
