FYI the BBC are now reporting reports that the Houthis and others are firing missiles at Israel. Not that the BBC is a bastion of truthful reporting, but if both sides are saying it, it adds some weight.

I think this takes us a step closer to a true regional war but global nuclear war (while not impossible) is still not likely at this stage.
They didn't think it would escalate the conflict; they thought they would get away with it and Iran would do nothing. That's partly because it's true that Iran has been saber rattling throughout this conflict. Clearly, however, that was a huge miscalculation by the Israelis. Iran has hard lines Israel didn't see.
