At about 47 minutes: Brain size in vegans would have to be scary for them. I wonder if it is a cause of the bad behaviour of vegans online. Do they behave badly because they are sick?

One of the things Dr Barry Groves promotes is getting flouride out of the water supply. That's one that I worry about. The flouride is there to protect teeth, but teeth are fine when you don't eat sugar or bread, so I don't think the upside of flouride is useful for us, leaving only whatever the downside is.

That's going to take a bit of reading! Downloaded and added to my reading queue (isn't 1800s English wordy!)

Incidentally the word in the title and commonly in the text "alimentation" means "the food one eats"

Note the first: The fun of these old scientific types is they're so often about 60% right but their wrong is just so, so wrong. The downside of that is if you use these guys to reinforce a point it's really easy for opposing people to discredit them. OTOH it's a 400 page book and they're probably not going to read it, especially given they don't read the recent science we post

Note the second: He thinks physical exercise is life limiting - do it professionally and die at 55. I guess his examples were people in physical work jobs who aren't as long lived as people in gentler life, who in turn are not going to do as well as people in gentle life who exercise deliberately. Resistance and weight lifting to exhaustion, or sprinting seem to be the most effective exercises. I note that some of the youtube carnivores are setting records (was it Chaffee who got the seated row record?)

Note the third: Wow are things bad now

For instance, we should not for a moment think of feeding our cattle, horses and sheep upon lean and fat meats, neither do we expect to feed cats and dogs upon hay, corn and oats.

Sad to say yes we do feed dogs corn.

Note the fourth: 20 meat teeth, 12 plant teeth of which 4 aren't much use being the wisdom teeth. I never grew wisdom teeth. I have only 8 alleged plant eating teeth, though I use them when eating beef.

totallynotjet I added a Library section to the sidebar with this book and the one you posted earlier (The relation of alimentation...). Since there's no markup I didn't add any markup

There was a plan (never successful, not actualy possible to implement) to put a price on email - a fraction of a cent per message, with proof of payment encoded in the headers to make scam spam uneconomical

That could never work with a reddit-like service, for money spam and for ideals trolling wouldn't care about $50 a year.

Weight went up, scale reports muscle stayed the same, fat went up, +4kg over the xmas period and the two months before. Still no problem with dangerous organ fat, my waist is about 5cm smaller than my hips.

4kg isn't a lot given I'm 188cm tall

I'm so much worse than you at keeping my names different so people can't tell I'm the same person - they'll never get through your camoflague, but I'm psud@* lemmy.wold is my original and was my backup, aussie.zone is my favourite but isn't all that reliable, now lemm.ee is my new backup.

Never hungry unless there is meat in front of me, and I often don't finish, and have the leftovers the next day

I'm pretty sure it's two things:

I started working from home and not cycling to and from work (1 hr each way) 5 days a week

I didn't change the fat percentage of my food

The long term carnivores on Reddit noted that appetite changes lagged exercise changes so they'd get super lean in summer when they exercised and put on a bit of fat in winter while idle

I was so fat when I ate vegetables. Even low carb vegetables, but especially when eating potato, carrot, and bread

I went from 115kg to 88kg eating exactly what I eat now (though lower fat while I was super fat, high fat once I was under 95kg), I just don't get as much exercise as I did so I need to reduce energy, and since I eat the most fatty beef available (except the stuff fed grain that would have been better pointed to human food)

I feel that recommending vegetables is a banable offence in this community, but Jet seems gentler than me

@jet please may I swing the banhammer? Maybe for 2 days or so?

You know you don't need to read the carnivore community if you don't think it's a good or safe way to eat.

You can block it if not subscribing isn't enough.

I don't feel the need to comment or vote in any of the vegan or vegetarian communities

Not on that list: any animal products

I have heard that so much online and in person

The truth is I am never bored of food. It just seems food is much more like fuel, just another bodily function – take in as much fat and protein as you need, when you need it

It always tastes great. Of course it does, it's what we're built to eat, just better quality

Where I live the easiest meat to get is high country grass finished beef – some of the most environmentally friendly and healthy meat in the world; it's grown free range on land that can't support plant agriculture
