My butcher will dry age beef to your preference with a default of 2 weeks and a max of 5 weeks at no extra cost when you order at least a quarter cow

I eat only* ruminant meat. It is so much better than everything else. No surprise that it tastes so good since it's so nutritious

Pork isn't close, fish isn't close, I don't even eat birds when chicken dinners come up socially

*Though I have eaten pork and fish for social reasons, those meals are a rounding error. I really like this new reality where so many are allergic to various parts of the standard diet, so eating differently is accepted by just about everyone under 60

If you want the joke decoded:

-e return immediately for some failed commands

-u throw an error for unset variables

-s non functional

-a everything is marked for export

Owners of such cars should be required to take extra training about where they can operate them, restricting them like large commercial vehicles (which these try to be)

Let them have them; don't let them drive them in tight urban areas, don't let them park in parking places that can't fit them

Australia is much like America with places designed for motor vehicles. So American light trucks fit here, but many of our carparks do not allow vehicles longer than 5m to enter

My favourite AI code test is code to point a heliostat mirror at (lattitude, longitude) at a target at (latitude, longitude, elevation)

After a few iterations to get the basics in place, "also create the function to select the mirror angle"

A basic fact that isn't often described is that to reflect a ray you aim the mirror halfway between the source and the target. AI Congress up with the strangest non-working ways of aiming the mirror

Working with AI feels a lot like working with a newbie

Next time you post a new bit of gout content, I might give an update :)

[–] psud@aussie.zone 2 points 4 months ago (2 children)

I have a history of gout. Urate at 0.47 mmol/L just after I stopped taking allopurinol after a few months on carnivore, 0.45 a couple of weeks ago (the reference range is 0.2 to 0.42mmol/L)

Over the 2⅓ years I have been on carnivore I have had two attacks

  1. At the end of a holiday on a Pacific island after a day with poor access to meat (the resort had run out after hosting a wedding) I ate a sweetened yoghurt on the plane. Fructose.

  2. Just recently I got pretty dehydrated while unwell with a cold and had an attack

In comparison before going on allopurinol I had about three attacks a year. On allopurinol I had one attack a year. On carnivore I had one attack without the help of sugar in over 2 years

Some pemmican makers have acquired deli slicers for that job. I might do that. A sharp knife was enough

Apparently the Plains Indians cut meat in a spiral to get long pieces, just as people do when cutting leather into thonging. That needs a very sharp knife, and is probably easier with a stone knife than steel

1 year (and a few days) old article. How did this turn out?

[–] psud@aussie.zone 2 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (2 children)

When I change to getting meat as a quarter, half or whole cow I'm looking forward to boiling the marrow out of the bones and making special pemmican

Also this has sorted out how I'll order the meat, as you need to specify how you want every part prepared, and the tough cuts were going to be difficult. But those tough bits will make excellent pemmican (based on how good minced meat is from those same cuts)

The Salisbury book - I struggled through the first couple of chapters and skimmed the rest. He seems to be the sort who won't use one word where five can work
