Because it's probably bullshit. Elon Musk is a colossal problem, so people feel justified in whatever lies come to mind.

  • The Cybertruck has steer by wire BUT NOT BRAKE BY WIRE. No other Tesla has any such system. The brakes in all Teslas are traditional.

  • The question of who pays when you have an accident with autopilot has basically been settled in court: the normal rules of fault apply. If autopilot is at fault, then you're at fault. If you're in control, and you're at fault, then you're at fault.

The idea that an insurance company says, "Oh, we won't cover it because you deactivated autopilot" is outright silly. Ignore the autopilot thing for a second. What happens when you rear-end someone? Your insurance covers it based on your coverage, and your premiums probably go up significantly.

The driver was supposed to be in control, of a vehicle with traditional brakes, and hit a car. If they have coverage, it should be handled just as if autopilot weren't involved at all unless they can prove that Tesla is at fault.

You are correct that a reboot will trigger a full rescan. I'm always on the lookout for better sync. I just don't think it's out there right now for easy bidirectional sync.

Basically, if you want to set and forget, Syncthing is the best option. If you want more control, you'll need to look into setting up rsync scripts or similar, which will at least better let you control how often to sync.

Yeah a cis dude might get testosterone if his normal testosterone is low. I assume there's something similar for women. I don't think that's what this guy is talking about though.

That doesn't fix the problem, it just changes who has the problem. Though I'll admit that idiots buying bad stuff from other idiots in a cycle until eventually one idiot gets their life totally ruined feels a little on the nose.

Alright, best is an exaggeration. But $5/print assumes it breaks before I print anymore. The actual value is still unknown.

I got a Lexmark business laser printer from a place that was going out of business for like $50. Best investment I ever made. It just sits there quietly, not doing anything, until I print something like twice a year. Five years in and it still works fine, I haven't even replaced the toner.

RatGDO is a local ESP device you can hook into a LiftMaster to connect it to WiFi in a better way. Highly recommend.

At least the drug test is on brand. Stupid, but in a way I've come to expect. I cannot fathom what the point of the pregnancy test was.

Usually I say "don't mistake incompetence for malice" because so often when people fuck up, they aren't doing it to be mean but just because they're stupid.

In this case, though, you're mistaking malice for incompetence. Everything Reagan fucked up was 100% intentional. I mean, punishing black people and poor people was basically a campaign promise.

For a long time, I've just assumed this was a weird way that my bipolar and my bisexuality interacted. Is this just a normal human thing?!

Please don't say Trump is in decline. Plenty of people thought Trump had no chance of winning in 2016. He is a serious threat and should be treated like one until at least 10 years after his death.

The idea of being able to make tunnels faster and cheaper is super exciting, though there's some serious doubt that is actually what was accomplished. Still, maybe if it works out a better company can mimic it more efficiently.

I think a lot about this sci-fi race in an Anne McCaffrey book that put most of their infrastructure underground to preserve the natural beauty of their planet. I want that for us so bad. I mean, we can still have buildings and such above ground but imagine if transport was almost exclusively underground, the amount of space we'd save for building things we actually use and the amount of wildlife we'd preserve.
