All this extended conversation about all the downvotes and not a single person responded to the reason I gave for downvoting right up there. Merrick Garland's DOJ absolutely does not care about politics, and the implication that this guilty plea has to do with the Biden Admin wanting to influence the election in November is fictional.

Yes, that's what I said

I'm pretty much with you on this one. A lot of these people sound like they have terrible boundaries with their children. I get OP's in a difficult situation, but I don't get why they're complaining about spending $30 on pizza when they agreed to pay that before it was even delivered. I'm not saying OP should've been like "you will eat what I say or you will go without dinner," but really, as a parent you can give your child realistic options that don't require you hiding in the garage for a couple hours. Ham sandwiches don't smell, lots of foods don't smell. If they "refuse," they're still going to want to eat later when they're hungrier, and you make the same food choices available.

Also a large deep dish pizza from Jet's is like $18, and it's really hard to overstate how much more food and how much better their pizza is. Domino's is clearly preying on people who don't know any better or who don't have any other options.

Merrick Garland and his DOJ are absolutely not taking marching orders from the Whitehouse. Garland also doesn't give two shits about politics. Dude's rigidly ethical

"Cleared" is an interesting way to describe "pleaded guilty and sentenced to 62 months in prison." Dude just already served 5 years.

"Ignore the behavior" is a radical oversimplification. A better approach would be to make sure you've developed the skills in yourself to remain completely calm and unaffected when a tantrum happens, then you make yourself present but calm and uninterested until the child calms down, at which point you immediately reward them being calm with affection and attention, or whatever it is they would perceive as a reward. Without the reward part, ignoring a negative behavior risks worsening it over time. Also this is clearly not always possible, eg if you're in a public setting or if the child is doing something dangerous.

Medicare only pays for short-term skilled nursing rehabilitation meaning you need something like physical therapy after a major surgery. For long-term care because you're just unable to take care of yourself, you'd need Medicaid or to pay several thousand/month out of pocket.

Nope, the $63 billion figure is just sheer population, given that the average household debt is laid out right there at the top. It should be noted New York also has a very high per capita income compared to most other large cities, and this Wallethub "study" doesn't adjust for purchasing power parity

Sure, times are hard, but so is science journalism, apparently. Where could medium.com possibly get that this study says that headline. This study asked people of all ages what they predict is going to happen. There is no scientific basis for that headline, this is entirely based on a public opinion poll.

His argument doesn't make it sound at all like WW II though, there are way more parallels with the Cold War

Police said 34 new Tesla Cybertrucks were damaged.

By Friday afternoon, the graffiti had been wiped off.

Social media influencers and passersby stopped to snap photos.

Fort Lauderdale police are now investigating the case.

What a rollercoaster
