"A tree" didn't "take the entire grid down." A hurricane and thousands of trees took thousands of power lines down, and there are many localized outages interspersed between areas that still have power. "The grid" is fine, individual neighborhoods' connections to the grid are not.

Highly dependent on the job. I'm a SW who hires SWs. New grad LMSWs can start at $60K in hospitals or some government jobs, or $40K in schools or some nonprofits. 5-10 years of experience and a clinical license and you'll easily pull $75-80K, or $90K+ in management.
Then there's private psychotherapy practice, which I know some people who charge $200/hour out of pocket and are scheduled out for months.
All this to say getting a master's in social work was one of the best decisions I've ever made, and I have no regrets financially, but there are some people who do end up in very low paid jobs

There are a ton of early flowering native trees. Mexican plum, Mexican buckeye, Eastern redbud, Texas persimmon, and Texas mountain laurel are some that bloom in Feb-Mar in my area. We also have a bunch of salvias that take off in bloom really early. I bet you have a lot more native early flowering plants around you than you think!
