Thats not how the law works, and the law is above any corporation. At least this is still true in Europe. So if the law states that I dont need to give up any rights, then I... Dont need to give up any rights

I cant answer about the separation of username/password, but unnecessary animations seem to be a product of the ensh*ttification of the web

The fact my first thought was related to my work is a bad sign. Guess I need to ramp up my efforts in looking for something else

Keep in mind they will bring some stuff back, slowly and sneakily, so my advice is keep the account for a while so you can keep an eye on (and control over) your stuff. If youre in the EU send them an email gdpr request to delete your data. When they invevitably reply with the copy pasted "click this link to read about how you can delete your posts and comments" simply answer back that it is legally their responsibility to do it and youre not doing shit. Tell them if they dont comply you will be lodging a formal complain with your country's data protection officer (again, if youre in the EU), as I did when they brought back some deleted content for the third time.

The output is a little nice for the purpose of the meme imo using df, rather than lsblk

Would also recommend the T480. Got mine for around €280 total (including shipping from ebay).

If youre looking definitely try them out

I think what hes trying to say (correct me if im wrong OP), is that not everyone needs that high end machine, so its not comparing apples to oranges as you seem to suggest. Its like comparing a Lamborghini to a regular albeit good sedan for the purpose of taking your kids to school, doing groceries, etc. If we ignore the obvious impracticalities of the Lambo for these jobs, sure its really cool, but if you can achieve the same task with the sedan (again ignoring that the Lambo might not allow you to conveniently achieve them and assuming practicality is equal so that the car analogy can fit in with the laptop question), why specifically go looking to get the Lambo?

Edit: meant to reply to nyan@lemmy.cafe

Im really happy with my Das keyboard 4 professional. If you dont mind blank keycaps, or intend to order custom ones down the road anyway, I'd recommend it. Its got a sturdy heavyish metal body that feels like its resilient, which I do like personally as I dont need it to be mobile
