It's only the old V2, not the very latest one.
Where do you install it from? GitHub ?
The pihole is our DNS server at home. It does a pretty good job. My parents living away from me are also using it by default using Tailscale.
I'm using a pihole at home and my whole home network is protected.
I merged the new update in nix myself, it will be available soon in subsequent release branches.
