the problem might be more complex than "lazy, ignorant people."

Yes, some of them are stupid and belligerent in their stupidity.

I double checked and that is definitely a hyperlink to the daily beast. It was right there when I looked at the URL. I hope that helps.

There's not a whole lot more to it than that, but I'll provide illustrations.

Knuckles turns green (and comically overpowered) because of chaos emerald energy something or other, and because Penders wanted to make his mark on the character he'd come to regard as his property. Place your bets now as to what the payoff will be for this setup.

No characters ever comment on his color change again, so if you're just dropping in and it's not one of the issues where they mention that he's "Chaos Knuckles" (and it probably isn't), Knuckles is just green and insanely powerful for no discernable reason.

Knuckles dies at some point and is about to ascend to godhood, but comes back to life because they made Penders retcon it. When he returns, he says his Chaos power is gone. Neither him nor anybody else comment on the fact that he's red now, and it's never brought up again. Oh, and the payoff was nothing, he was just a green super Knuckles for a while and it didn't go anywhere.

And I can't even begin to overstate how weird Penders got with his OC echidnas (or later on, the legally distinct echyd'nyas). It started at a weird place and it went to a really weird place when he started making the comics on his own.

Remind me again what Russia did with your country the instant it got the chance?

Does it count as out-of-context comics if it's the incident where Ken Penders turned Knuckles green for years and then turned him red again with no acknowledgement?

I think the only rationalization Trump supporters actually have underneath it all is "who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him?".

Do you need me to bring you a drink up there on the cross?

Framing it as an accessibility feature is just citing your own anecdotal experiences and biases, which are meaningless because I have several autistic people in my own social circle who hold my opinion: that the only way to properly convey tone and text is to write properly and read attentively. The right interpretation for what I write is the one I wrote, and if I ever catch myself caring about the Le Epic Updoot Meme Point score on my posts or comments (which I have disabled on my Lemmy app, so I can't even see it) I will stick a loaded shotgun in my mouth and pull the trigger with my toe.

The /s tag is a very poor substitute for context clues and common sense. Tone indicators have no place in discourse.
