Hi everyone

Proud girldad of a beautiful 1 year old here. Life is good and I now love being a father.

We are just having one problem. She attacks her Grandma and leaves nasty scratches on her face. We aren't sure how to proceed.

What we do currently is if she attacks, we firmly say "no, we don't treat grandma like that" and then encourage gentle touch. It's not working.

We are firmly against physical discipline, we tried time out once but she went mental, possibly she's too young for time out.

Can you tell we're first time parents? Haha

Any advice would be appreciated

Oh damn, yeah I see it now

So quantity over quality? Haha

Haha, truth. A bit less effective but true

Thanks

That's absolutely insane. Imagine if that was the number in the proposed plan. Would have been squashed instantly

Yes

Travis picking is your best bet for learning finger picking to begin with. Its the foundation of basically all finger picking aside from classical.

Some basic tips:

  1. First and fore most and most importantly. Make sure your using the right fingering from the start. Your thumb plays the low E, the A, and D. Index plays G, middle plays B, and ring finger plays high e. I know it's tough at first but it will set you up for more advanced picking later on
  2. Start slow. Practice the exercises with a metronome and move up 5bpm at a time.

I just made this to explain what I mean about finger positions

If you can get hold of this book, you'll be in great hands. Work through the exercises day by take. I think I have a digital copy

EDIT: My photo upload didn't work so here's the link to the book above

How much is that per centimeter?

I don't think it's a problem to be honest. The issue is the untreated anxiety. Are you able to get some support for that?

Bit nerve wravking watching this all unfold eh. I've got a young family and I'm the sole earner. It'd break me if I was able to ensure they have everything they need

Yeah I saw the projection of $4.80

Is it likely we will hit the level four of the traffic light system? Ie, only emergency and public transport vehicles?

Listening to him cry is devastating. They are absolutely scum and sub human Nazis

You don't need to preface it with "I'm not antisemitic", no one cares. It's the least important part of this whole thing

Hi everyone

I'm making a recipe and it says to use 1 box of the roux. Using a whole box seems like alot. Does it mean the whole box or 1 square

What other way can I make vegetarian japanese curry? With or without the roux

Hi everyone

I decided to give home assistant a go as I'm tired of the lifx app. Plus, it means I can move to different brands of lights and control it on the same app.

I am not overly tech savvy but I know enough to operate my TrueNAS server for my needs. That being said I'm always learning and emjoy it.

I installed it through the truenas apps page (basically just docker). Install was successful, I created a user account and logged in on my phone through the app. So far so good.

I went to search for lifx bulbs but it's not finding anything.

I'm wondering, have I missed any steps to ensure HA is able to discover bulbs?

Any advice appreciated

Probably a silly question but the .uk domain is really cheap. If I'm not in the UK can I still use that domain for my server without issue?

Its like 50 bucks for a ten year lease

Hi everyone

I'm trying to degoogle as much as possible. I've heard about this thing called calDAV and cardDAV but I have no idea how to use it.

With radicale, do I need to install some other somewhere in order to use it?

I'm just looking for basic useage for myself only at this stage. I'd like to be able to self host my own calendar and contacts. Is radicale appropriate for this?

Is it safe to self host a calendar?

Can a self hosted calendar still send and receive invites to other calendars?

Any help greatly appreciated, thank you

Kia ora chaps

I've been buying $10 Kmart sliders and they last around 4 months. Id like to buy some proper good jandals with good foot support.

Are there any brands you recommend?

I adore this album. It's oddly calming but admittedly it's very grim

Kia ora te whānau

I have been on a journey of getting away from big tech these last few years. I've started self hosting and become increasingly critical of a centralized internet are large digital monopolies.

That being said, there's parts of social media I really enjoy. I've always favoured reddit over facebook and insta but I don't like that way reddit is going. So I've deleted my account and signed up to Lemmy.

I'm so thrilled there is a kiwi sublemmy.

Really pleased to be here. I hope this community grows

Have a lovely weekend folks

Hi everyone

Glad there is a truenas community here

I am on fangtooth but I see GoldenEye is available. When I go click on the update it asks if I want to switch update trains. What does this mean?
