The title of the post is incorrect. It should be: "Elon Musk rebrands Twitter as the X11 Window System".

Does anyone know if any seller/publisher of this book sells it without DRM?
I just bought Permutation City on Kobo, where I usually buy all my ebooks. ...And what a let-down: the book is DRM-protected, so I can't simply download the purchased ebook and read it on my laptop or phone, without having Adobe breaking my privacy.
So I returned the book.
I've happily bought the brilliant Mistborn, "Wax and Wayne", and Stormlight Archive full collections by Brandon Sanderson without DRM on his books. I think it's thanks to the Tor Publishers. Here's what Sanderson says about DRM:
This isn’t even getting into DRM, which is a practice that punishes only those who want to do what is right by supporting the release, rather than pirating. There hasn’t been as much talk of this lately, but I haven’t forgotten. I think people should be able to move their ebooks between devices, and store them locally in case their chosen platform vanishes. (To their credit, Tor Books has released DRM-free ebooks. That is not the case at my other publishers.)
I suggest that "An example" is removed, maybe start with "Complaints". Otherwise the post loses strength. Just my impression.
In my case this translates to "Twitter is now deleted".
Thank you for sharing your experience with it. Good to hear from many people that it was reliable.
Thanks for the encouragement, I will! I'll report here in case anyone is curious.
Fantastic!! Had never seen this one!
It was (possibly is) actually like that in some historical periods and cultures: going to the bathroom was considered a social activity...
Great community! Sorry must go – peeing myself after seeing the first posts there 🤣
There are surely pros and cons, possibly good and possibly bad outcomes with such restrictions, and the whole matter is very complicated.
From my point of view part of the problem is the decline of education and of teaching rational and critical thinking. Science started when we realized and made clear that truth – at least scientific truth – is not about some "authority" (like Aristotle) saying that things are so-and-so, or a majority saying that things are so-and-so. Galilei said this very clearly:
But in the natural sciences, whose conclusions are true and necessary and have nothing to do with human will, one must take care not to place oneself in the defense of error; for here a thousand Demostheneses and a thousand Aristotles would be left in the lurch by every mediocre wit who happened to hit upon the truth for himself.
The problem is that today we're relegating everything to "experts", or more generally, we're expecting someone else to apply critical thinking in our place. Of course this is unavoidable to some degree, but I think the situation could be much improved from this point of view.
I have a feeling of having seen some old shows re-advertised sometimes. But this could very well be a false memory.
Agree on all your points. I just don't want to bother fiddling with adobe etc. I'll buy a paper copy – why didn't I think of that!
