I think with the amount of things people are planning to draw the canvas is going to look pretty empty if they remove all of them. Plus, if you wrote something like "API" in small letters everywhere on the canvas they'd have a hard time keeping up
Why do you think it won't translate into longer lasting subscriptions? People subscribing for a specific thing rather than using a friend's Netflix?
It definitely is a bubble. Look at how many companies are integrating GPT into products that have no business having AI. Look at how much openAI is subsidising the cost of GPT 3.5. Reality will set in and all these companies will be left with huge AI bills for features designed to impress investors, not users.

The only thing Facebook has is people, and to get the people elsewhere you need to have more than what Facebook has. So I think there is no alternative.
I'd rather rely on someone else, I think it's unlikely that Gmail, outlook, protonmail, etc would go down without me hearing about it. I can't afford to have my emails bounce for days until I both realise its happening and have the time to figure out the problem and fix it.

This is why you think there's nothing special about it. Yes, it's a bad idea to run it as a server 24/7, but if you want to poke at a server BIOS, or play around with iLO, see how redundant power supplies or hot swap drive bays interact then yes there is some knowledge worth gaining there.
