Making a false report is only a bad thing if they did it maliciously. I'm assuming they did it out of naivety rather than out of malice. In the UK the police are less inclined to kill people for no reason (of course, it does happen but it's way less likely).

The cookie consent banner has to allow you to opt out of cookies as easily as accepting them

Same as it currently is. Maybe some will fade to irrelevance but a new company promising to be everything the other one wasn't for free will appear and the cycle will continue. The focus will go away from user choice and further towards algorithm driven short form content. I could totally see an app that just shows you a 3 second video, then another, then another continuously until you close the app. No input required as the engagement is tracked through the camera.

I hope one day they just start fining everyone doing it all at once

Tons of companies break the cookie law already, but enforcement seems to be rare

Yeah, I'm always a little disappointed when a cool title turns out to be a workaround that means the title is correct on a technicality. I guess they thought of it, did it and then wrote an article so there's at least some effort involved.

I don't think we should get in the habit of calling it "Karen" to report a mass killing

So sorry to hear about this being shutdown in 6 months

Absolutely, I think it is too built into language to be able to change it though.

I try hard to understand the personal issues of people with gender identification. I hope you can appreciate this is difficult for someone who was raised in the 60/70's and doesn't have the same identification issues.

I feel you on this, even as someone who is currently in their mid 20s. It helps for me to just accept the fact that I'll probably never truly understand how they feel, just like how I can't imagine how it would feel to be blind or to be paralysed. The best we can do is listen and accept.

I think there is a lot of credence to her opinion of putting people into boxes. This causes so many mental issues with growing kids, and has done for a very long time. We really need to find a way to help kids be happy with who they are and not pander to the whims of the crowd.

True, but the world is never going to get away from putting people into boxes because our brains will just always do it. There's no reason why someone shouldn't be able to change what box they want to be in, since that's the next best thing to getting rid of the boxes all together.

They're also quite keen on not having a child judging of the abortion rate rising so you have to make some sort of sacrifice

What does that have to do with this article
