The US has zero say on whether the war on UKRAINE ends. If it was a US-Russia war maybe a US-Russia talk would have literally any meaning.

One thing I learned as I grew up is that in politics, words mean the opposite of what they mean.

Examples:

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea is neither democratic, a republic, or for the people.

The Nationalist Socialist Party had a problem with actual socialists. They were okay with nationalism though.
