They are all Republicans. They own the excessive power. Why would they enact checks and balances on it? Elections have consequences.

I'm not sure this is true. There are some leftists who hate Democrats far more than Republicans, especially here on Lemmy.

Some are actually supportive of the Trump regime because they believe it will bring about a collapse that will lead to a communist utopia (lol).

Guys guys, settle down. Two countries can be horrible dictatorships which don't care about it's citizens human rights. It doesn't need to be a contest. Both of you have a popsicle and go play on the swings.

If you go far enough left you become right wing again. Horseshoe theory is real and it's proven time and time again.

The only real political spectrum that matters is normal sane people with a brain vs. the extremists.

I might have to try PieFed. I think this might inspire me to.

No it's not ethical. I say this as a queer man indoctrinated in Christianity. I was lucky to make it through childhood without killing myself. I tried several times. Religion is a cancer that should be exterminated.

I almost left due to the toxicity of the tankie triad but luckily I learned the block features work well.

Stop with the peaceful protests and break out the sniper rifles. Kill the President, the Supreme Court, and Musk for good measure.

I think it's also a lack of tech understanding. I know how easy it is to fork a repo so I get how great the fediverse is with all the services being FOSS and anyone can create an instance. This major benefit makes no sense to someone who doesn't even know what a git repo is or the difference between free (but you are the product being sold) and FOSS.

We aren't sure. It's still a billionaire owned social media. For some reason people are too afraid of the freedom actual decentralized social media gives them and they want a billionaire behind the scenes running everything and coralling them to the correct opinions.

I hedge my bets and do both. I deposit a regular amount regardless of what happens but will throw in a bit extra when it's clear there is a dip. I prefer the international ETFs also. Can't go wrong being more diversified.

Double recommend the emergency fund. I have 6 months income but with the current volatility and that fact that I live in this American shit hole, I may want to start contributing more to it to get 9 months at least. But since I have 6 months already I'm fine with not missing this opportunity to buy the dip.

I only wish I had waited a week to make my yearly IRA contribution. I generally do a lump sum for that since I just max out the contribution for the year with my bonus mainly because it's easier to keep track of. This event makes me want to rethink that strategy since I missed the dip on that by a week. It probably doesn't matter that much though since I can't touch my IRAs for around 30 years anywho.

That's what I did. I rebalanced my stock allocation from 50% to 80% and put a few thousand more in the market.
