You claim that each group fighting for their own unique needs and rights is some how splintering our unity. You do know intersectionality is a thing, right? Just because I'm for gay rights doesn't mean I'm against black rights. Each group has their own unique needs and there is some interplay between them but there is absolutely no shame or downside to communicating those unique needs.

What you claim sounds very similar to an argument I often hear from right-wingers. "Gays and Lesbians already have equal rights. They have the right to marry someone of the opposite sex just like everyone else."

There is a difference between equality and equity.

You claim that is the fault of minorities demanding equal rights that inequality in wealth has risen rather than put the blame squarely where it's deserved: the right wing, and people who couldn't be bothered to vote against the right wing (or worse, the people discouraging others from voting for the only opposition party to the right wing).

You claim that "leftists" are that different from tankies but judging by your own rhetoric which is incredibly hostile to minorities, I'd say they are quite the same.

I think the main thing that is unnecessarily gendered is they are trying to push the "blue is the only manly color" thing in this image.

You make it sound like discrimination is something that only happened recently and that it's some kind of conspiracy invented by the rich instead of something that has literally been around since the dawn of humanity. Hell it's not even a trait unique to humanity.

Everyone being equal sounds great and all. Show me a left wing country that's achieved it.

Pretending everything can be magically solved by wealth equality is pure class reductionism and this fantasy has never been borne out by reality. Different groups experience different forms of discrimination and each has different needs. Not to mention the "left" isn't without it's share of abhorrent views. Check out the recent posts of !meanwhileongrad@sh.itjust.works to see transphobia and queerphobia from leftists you claim desire equality on full display.

Maybe if you guys were better at gender bending you wouldn't have lost the sexuality wars.

I mean it wouldn't be a problem if people didn't get angry about minorities having rights.

The reason the rich are pushing right-wing politics is that they know socially conservative people are ready to give the wealthy whatever they want so long as they can tread on the humanity of minorities. So a large part of the problem is there truly are a lot of deplorable people who have some truly abhorrent views and the rich are taking advantage of that. Is the rich taking advantage a problem? Sure, but the bigger problem is that these people with these views exist in the first place and are easily manipulated.

If the rich could get tax cuts from pushing for social rights for minorities they would do that instead, but social liberals are less gullible than the conservatives.

It's pretty easy to explain too. Social media and traditional media are all owned by billionaires and they want to push a rightwing agenda because that means less taxes for them and fuck everyone else.

My bad. I'll add a warning to the post title.

Far right authoritarianism is spreading across the world. I'm not sure any country is safe from it. Sure right now it sucks because we are in the middle of it but this likely won't last forever. There will be a pendulum swing.

I'm a computer engineer and have a good income and it's still not easy for me to simply up and switch countries even if I want to.

Something I've been trying to do lately is trying to appreciate what I do have in life and what is good. I can go outside and be surrounded by trees in my neighborhood. I can work on my art in my free time. I like the state I'm in since it's relatively liberal. I try to appreciate my coffee in the morning. The birds in my backyard. The fluffiness of my cat. Focusing on the positives here and now and being present in my present.

And I'm doing that not to shame myself for having it better than others. I'm doing it literally as a survival technique. It's very easy right now to focus on everything wrong, and where I want to be in the future but can't get to right now. But if I keep obsessing over things I cannot change, I will go crazy.

Try to find things you can appreciate about your life as it is now and slow down and really take the time to experience and appreciate those things.

I have ADHD too. The trick is to trick your brain into thinking it's urgent by training yourself to have anxiety anytime there is a looming deadline.

Worked great for me and I got a 4.0 in engineering. But now I have anxiety issues.

Verge? I think he's been well past that point for a while now.
